When In Doubt? Get Cute & Cuddle A Puppy.
This weekend when I was wishing it was spring I planned a perfect protest. If it was too frigid to wear a skirt, I was going to make spring happen another way! A while ago I spotted the most amazing headbands by a new blog friend, Savannah aka MaieDae who has a beautiful etsy shop, and I snapped one up as soon as I could.
Fact:
Not only are giant fascinator headbands fun when when you have short hair, they are a lifesaver when you have short hair that you’re just contemplating growing out enough for it to always look awkward.
It had just arrived in the mail and it’s so beautiful! Very spring like, and the perfect antidote to fresh snow falling outside, so I popped it on, scooped up one of my monsters (Ash – aka the one with pointy ears) and we had a little photoshoot…
I’m so thankful to have my little shadows.
It’s starting to feel a little more like spring already, don’t you think?
It’s starting to feel a little more springy here, too, and I absolutely ADORE this photoshoot. SO much fun!
Looks great on you and how easy to wear fascinators every day! Go girl!!
that headband = the bomb. i feel like i’m going to need to invest in some myself! does it ever drive you nuts that, with short hair, it feels like you need a haircut once every 2/3 weeks?! it’s currently driving me mad – i need to invest in some scissors and learn how to trim it myself.
also, ash is about the darn cutest thing ever.
xoxo,
sara
Looks super cute on you! I’m a headband FIEND. My favorites are actually dread-wraps. My hair isn’t dreadlocked but it’s mega-thick and curly and it’s a nice way to keep it out of my face without giving me a headache like ponytails often times do.
I think you’re on to something! There’s nothing like an Adley snuggle to brighten a day.
How CUTE. And yes, spring…finally? Maybe? I was seriously tempted to wear some moccasin flats with no socks today, but it turns out it was actuall -18 this morning. Stupid sun fooling me.
Awww I love doggie pictures. And I am also ready for Spring! It cant come soon enough.
Oh my gosh, I love that headband!! You look so incredibly cute. And stop making me jealous with those puppies! Haha. We want a dog SO bad but it’s just so hard to find a good apartment here that allows dogs. Sigh. I can’t wait until that day comes though! :P Hehehe.
love the headband! ….and especially love the puppy:)
Ooh digging that headband! Hitting up her esty now :)
You look *so* cute!! ♥ xo.
What a little ham!! I love pet photoshoots. Except Miss Kitten over here is way too ADD, and all portraits inevitably end up being some form of a giant nose and whisker combination :(
I’m starting to feel a bit repetitive, because every time I get the urge to comment here I mostly just want to tell you how cute you are and how much I love you. :)
But, this time, I also wanted to say that playing/cuddling with my dogs ALWAYS always always makes me feel better!
That headband is adorable – as are the puppy pictures! Too cute – def makes me smile. :)
The sun has been shining lately, so while it’s not warm yet, it makes me feel like spring is just around the corner!!
I can not wait to bring my puppy home and cuddle her! (She’s only 1 week old)
One week old?? Oh my gosh! Pictures? :)
Several of them on my blog! http://pockets-full-of-posies.blogspot.com/
I’m hoping to go this weekend and take some higher quality ones.
Oh my gosh that headband is adorable! Perfect to think spring and your puppy is adorable too!
Those pictures are so adorable! I love Ash and his pointy ears. Your fascinator looks amazing. I was just looking pictures of Kate Middleton wearing them and totally wishing I could pull the look off. You make it look so easy.
Yay for puppies! They make everything better.
This is so cute! It made me smile. And, your headband is adorable.
I hope that you received the letter I dropped off for you a few days ago. :)
Have a great day!
Ash is adorable and I am LOVING your manicure! What color??? I’m feeling inspired do my nails tonight now, haha :)
It’s a neon green fast drying Sally Hansen colour that I picked up a while ago- I’m not sure of its name off hand, but I had lots of fun with it this weekend :)
Sounds awesome, thanks! I think I might be in teal mood :)
Between your adorable, fun and energetic photos and the warm temps we’re having in Chicago (even a little sun!), it’s definitely feeling more like spring! (Now, ask me again later this week when snow is in the forecast … sigh)
Very cute photos! I love the hairband, my hair is the same cut as yours and I agree, hairbands are such lifesavers!
You look very spring-like, and also adorable! I love the dinosaur picture and the one where you’re holding up his ears.
Awww, super cute! loving the fun headband, I totally wish I could pull that off. Also? Your dogs are SO adorable :)
Too cute! That headband is adorable, and I am loving this etsy shop.
cuuuuutie. i love the little pointy ears photo. you are your pup are the cutest. i’m excited to one day own doggy with a husband.
also, have you seen “Dogs Uncoded” by Nova? Its a documentary on how dogs were domesticated from thousands and thousands of years ago. it is not only sooo fascinating but the doggies in it are SO CUTE. my boyfriend and i watched it the other night because he had watched it and was desperate to show me, haha. he is in love with dogs. its so cute.
xo Moorea
I haven’t heard of that, it sounds really cool! I’m going to have to find it- Jesse watched THE WHOLE Westminster Dog show the other week. It’s either so endearing (!) or I’m secretly married to a 75 year old society lady. You decide. ;)
These pictures are so very cute. That headband looks amazing on you, she has such a cute shop full of pretty!
I adore you!
This is so cute, haha!
I can’t wait to Spring, seriously. This weather is just killing me. I can’t wait to walk outside in shorts and a tee shirt.
Seems so far away, blahh..
Your dogs are ADORABLE!
First off, that headband is money – so chic! Secondly, Ash is so beautiful. Her/his (?sorry!) fur is so shiny and black. Loved the photo shoot! Annnnd…if you’re wondering where I came from, I saw you as a featured blogger on 20 something bloggers’ ning site. Have a wonderful day!
Your pups are so cute (even though it was just Ash in the photos, still adorable). I think my favorite is Dino Ash!!!! :)
We have sun so it *looks* like spring but it’s not really… yet!
Well, this is adorable.
That headband is so cute and so is your adorable dog!!! I have a million and one headbands and my philosophy abou them is “the bigger, the better”. I also refer to them as converation starters, because everytime I wear one, people as me about them. LOL
So cute :D It definitely doesn’t feel like spring here – it was -30 without windchill when I woke up this morning. I think I need a whole lot of headbands to make it feel like spring :D
I love the dino pic – and HOW DO YOU HAVE THE CUTEST DOGS ON THE PLANET? I also love Maie Daie’s headbands & what-not, though I don’t think I could pull one off (though I hate when people say that – revamp yourself! try!). Maybe I should give it a shot?
My gosh, you have no idea how much I want to cuddle a puppy today, wow. (and that headband is wonderful! I always have troubles with them because of my glasses, but you seem to be doing just fine…what’s your secret?)
Oh I know exactly what you mean! This one is really nice because the headband is a soft elastic so it’s easier to navigate, but usually I just put the headband on at a really bizarre angle so the top looks right, but the arms are way further back than they’d normally be :)
Love the pictures!
Do you have trouble getting them enough exercise in the winter? Take them out of the city to run them or just take for walks? I would looove to get a medium-larg size dog (no rat-dogs allowed!) but am definitely concerned about exercising them in the winter months.
We definitely have trouble getting them enough exercise in the winter, especially because they’re higher energy than jack russel terriers! We actually bought a treadmill so we can keep them from getting pent up, and I filmed it here: https://kylaroma.com/2010/01/work-it-out-pup/ :)
Girl, I hear ya! It took me a year of awkward to get from pixie to actual hair. I’ve used every pin & headband trick in the book.
Kyla, adorable headband and ADORABLE dog. Ash is the perfect cuddle size…love!
I think your headband and your glasses go really well together. You look absolutely adorable! I used to make my own headbands often…. I should get back into the habit of doing that.
You are so adorable! Love the fascinator and love how much fun you’re having in these photos! (And all I keep thinking is “that’s not necessary…you’re the size of a chicken!” – what you were telling them when they were barking while we were g-chatting!)
If only they spoke English so they understood!! lol :)
Not only am I currently in the process of growing out a pixie cut (that has led to me looking, more often than not, like a member of a hockey player of the 90’s) and these fascinators are adorable and just what I need, but, you and your puppy are adorable!!
How lovely! Your pictures come out so amazing and you look fabulous!!! Ash is SUCH a cutie!!! YAY Spring!
