What’s in a Name?
I’m excited to be working on opening up my etsy shop A Little Thistle again for the fall, and I’ve been dreaming up all kinds of new knits, vintage and jewellery for the re-launch. Choosing a name for my shop was one of the hardest and earliest decisions I made when I was starting the business, but when I started working out what I wanted the inspiration and feeling behind my business to be the name fell into place.
I choose the names A Little Thistle because thistle’s are beautiful and unique, but resilient and down to earth. They’re traditional but have an alternative attitude to them with their funny tufts of purple, and come in all kinds of beautiful otherworldly shapes refuse to be ignored. I love the idea of a little thistle, growing in the prairies making an unassuming statement just by being its self.
And since I love my wild short hair & the crazy bed head that goes with it, before I get ready for the day I look a little like a thistle. Don’t you agree? ;)
your bedhead is seriously perfect. is that a weird thing to say? i wish my bedhead looked that cute hehe!
definitely agree with how darling and appropriate your name choice is! up to high doh & lookin’ good – congrats on the re-launch!!!
I love bedhead. :-)
It’s a great name for a shop! I struggled with my business name too.
Goodness, your hair looks EXCELLENT in this photo! The growing out process suits you.
You have the most incredible bedhead! Adorable.
Love it. You are too cute, Kyla!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I can’t wait! Also, bedhead is AMAZING. Yours AND mine. I love bedhead! I always have this beachy wave thing goin’ on. ^_^
I think you look adorable straight out of bed. I look downright frightening!! Excited to see what you have in your shop. I remember you were just getting ready to launch it when you came to visit last august! I really need to buy something this time around though!!
Ha!! Love the bedhead!
Your bedhead is too cute. :)
How exciting! I can’t wait to see all the new items.
FYI, your link to your shop is broken. You need to just stick an http:// in front of it, otherwise your site assumes it’s part of kylaroma.com. So right now it’s looking for http://www.kylaroma.com/www.etsy.com/yourshop, and obviously that folder doesn’t exist. :)
I adore your shop name and the reasoning behind it. And your bed head is amazing! Perfect fit.
he he – too cute!! :) Love this little story behind your shop name…

I love the name and your hair :)! Really cute picture by the way.
I’m currently puzzling over a new name for my blog. It is now named ‘Liefgeval’
(this is Dutch for sweet thing) but I kinda outgrew it a little and I would love
a more international name, but it’s hard and so many things exist already!
Um, I love the name and can’t wait to see what’s in store (get it?) but mostly I LOVE your bed head! You are so cute!

I am opening an etsy shop (hopefully by the end of August) to sell my original paintings! I always loved your shop too.
Also, I have to say that bed head picture is adorable. My hair looks ridiculous when I wake up (I get really bad bird’s nests in the back) and Jared never fails to make fun of me until we are both laughing our heads off about it.
Thank you for sharing how you picked the name. I’ve always wondered about it. I thought it was so cute.
I honestly cannot wait! I need to buy some birthday and christmas presents, and I adore your scarves!
I love the name! Those are my favourite thistle too. My mum used to have a big vase of them in the hallway where I grew up.
Yes, yes, can’t wait for A Little Thistle to open! And that picture of you is adorable!!!
Haha, you are so cute! I’ve never thought of thistles that way before. Good viewpoint!
What a darling name for your shop! Love it!
I can’t type today….that was supposed to say “last week,” not just week!
I was in Scotland week, and we found a cafe called A Little Thistle! It was adorable, and they had thistles everywhere, as decoration!
I was wondering when you were going to reopen your shop – I have Christmas shopping to do :)
