✳ One of the things that I love most about baking & cooking is that it gets me to try foods I wouldn’t normally dive into willingly. It was LA’s birthday last week and I made her a banana cream pie, which is her favourite but something I’ve never tried or been drawn to. But once I was in the grocery store buying perfectly ripe organic bananas and leaning over the stove as the sweet smell of vanilla pudding made from scratch wafted around me, I couldn’t help but want a piece. It took a lot of will power to deliver it without a piece missing!

✳ If I had a super power, it would be napping. The amount of sleep that I’ve caught up on in the past two days is a little terrifying.

✳ While working over the weekend I started watching Torchwood, and the amount of love I’ve developed for the show in such a short time has elevated me to an entirely new level of geekdom. It has a dark sense of humor and a really cute male lead who’s written to be the dashing, charming, cowboy type- only he likes boys and girls. I love any show that undercuts stereotypes with its LGBT characters (hello, Max on Happy Endings!) and I’m in heaven that I’ve found that in a show that’s charming, a bit scary & very geeky. At the same time, I’m afraid that this is a gateway to watching Dr. Who. Please keep my family & I in your thoughts.

✳ Being able to walk over to Amber’s place to make brunch is one of the best things ever, especially after 7+ years of being close friends who lived on opposite sides of the country. Also, it is now a universal truth in my life that everything tastes better when made with a cat spatula.

✳ Mal’s elbows are a little irritated from lying on our hardwood floors, so he’s wearing little boy’s clothes again! I’m not pro-dressing up my little dogs, but when he’s wearing a shirt that says “Some of My Best Friends Are Invisible” I really can’t handle the cute. I’m bracing for baby fever to set in again!
