Week Two
This week I had my first roll developed, and just in the nick of time! I recently bought a 35 mm back for my Diana that will let me blow through film while I get my sea legs, and keep my developing and processing costs from terrifying my poor husband. The back was easy to install, and something about seeing a film loading set up that I’m already at home with really helped my confidence!
This is taken at the studio, in mid-morning sunshine.
Note to Self: The guide on the lens that reads 1-2 meters? It’s serious! Back up further, kid! :)
Oh golly, I LOVE the outline for your sleeve! I’ve been contemplating a new tattoo for a while now and though I thinking it will involve flowers and photo frames, I really have no idea. Did you design it yourself?
The bit of blur makes it look like you’re shooting through a window. I like it!
You’ll be a pro in no time I bet!
That’s a great idea. I received a Diana for Christmas last year and have let the cost of actually developing the film (not to mention finding the one place that did it locally) keep me from really using this baby.
I love this! I took film photography in college and adored it. Now I want to save up for a good digital SLR, rather than just my point and shoot. But over all, this year definitely needs to involve more pictures. Gorgeous work, Kyla.
To me the blurriness works perfectly; it’s almost like it represents the blurriness of memory (your subject matter is perfect for invoking thoughts of the distant past for me).
i think this might become one of my favourite features on your blog :) LOVE. <3
So pretty! I love the slight hint of sunshine. I love, love, love mid-morning sunshine. It’s so full of positivity!
I love that you’re doing this project. This is really something that I would like to do, too! However, I’ve owned a Holga for over a year and have yet to see a developed roll of it’s film! It takes 120 film and NO ONE will process it!! And if we modify it to 35mm (which we want to, and even bought the film already)…no one actually develops film around here anymore, they always send it away to get developed. Last time I did that, they ruined the roll and the pictures were lost. Mannnn!!! Why! Boooo.
So I am living through you and LOOOVEE seeing your film results! Until I build my own darkroom :D lol
We have light switches like that. I bet your going to take some really cool pictures! :D
This is a really nice shot. I like the grainyness {grainyness? is that even a word?} and it reminds me of something from a 1970’s BT advert, that kind of era and style.
