Fridays Are For…secrets
My lovely, beautiful, heartfelt friend Nora has a blog series called “Confessions” that I really enjoy & wanted to try my hand at- so here are some secrets from me to you…
1. I’ve never eaten a kiwi. Growing up, we weren’t a kiwi family and somehow I just never tasted one! Every time I’m in the grocery store I stare them down, wondering “Is today the day?” and it never is.
2. I haven’t been out to the bar since I was nineteen. We have a fairly small club scene here, and while I loved going out dancing when I wasn’t supposed to be in the bars (I had a fake ID when I was 17!) the attraction really wore off when I got a little older. I love going out for drinks and appetizers with friends, but sometime this year I’m going to steal out into the night and go dancing.
3. I have odd crushes. Case and point: Macaulay Culkin & Philip Seymour Hoffman. I have normal ones too, but if I’m honest most of the boys I like are a little awkward & full of character.
4. I swear like I was raised by forty year old men, because I was. I started working on the production side of theatre when I was fifteen, and I spent my summers volunteering full time (until I could legitimately work) with the local fringe festival. I basically got to be a feral teenager for a long time, and I have an incredible group of adopted older brothers I get to see every summer because of it. When I’m not at work I tend to accidentally punctuate my sentences with “salty” phrases without thinking about it.
5. I have a terribly selective memory. I tend to forget names, places, the bad times, my multiplication tables, and that people in America have different holidays & long weekends… but I have instincts that are reliable enough to trust and I’m quick to pick things up on the fly so it balances out!
Do you have a Friday secret?
I pinky swear it’ll be just between us.
Philip Seymour Hoffman is love.
lovely blog! i’m glad i visited and will definitely be following you! i identify with your last secret but i think in a different way. i have the best memory when it comes to events, broad ideas and things that don’t really matter. but when it comes to specifics, the details, the things i want to remember i’m lost.
(visiting from freckled nest)
Stopping by from FN!
I secretly swear like a trucker too… around older adults I try to be respectful, but sometimes it slips out! :-x
I think today should be the day that you try grits!
My secret- I teach kindergarten and am constantly in dear I will say horrid curse words in front of my students by accident. Yikes….
-e
.-= Emily´s last blog ..Donor’s Choose =-.
I so have a huge Macaulay Culkin crush. And it’s not even a secret. Everyone just knows and thinks I’m a weirdo, but that’s ok!
I can’t picture you swearing either! And you must try a kiwi! I think they are delish! I wonder if you will like them or not, though.
I don’t have any great confessions today… Or none that I can think of that aren’t terribly boring!!
Visiting from FN. Cute post!
I was sent here by LA at FN… and I’m so glad! Your blog is so fun to read. My little secret.. I swear like a trucker too! I try my hardest to keep it in my head, but it slips out so easy.
Stopping by from FN!
I secretly swear like a trucker too… around older adults I try to be respectful, but sometimes it slips out! :-x
I … find it really difficult to tell time. It’s embarrassing. Shawn bought me a lovely analog watch for Christmas but I hate wearing it because I’m worried that someone will ask me what time it is and I will fumble my way through the answer.
.-= hillary´s last blog ..Go Ahead Be Gone With It And Get Your Sexy On =-.
I don’t think I ever tried a kiwi. I might have tried the flavor but not actually bitten into one. To be frank, I don’t even care. Because you confessed the stare down, I can envision a near future blog with a short video on trying the firmer (sour) and softer (sweeter) kiwis and sharing your experience. :)
My secret is I used to hate pineapple with a passion. That was until a few months ago with the boy cooked chicken and pineapple. OH YUM! However, I’m still not a fan of raw pineapple, because of the texture.
I had a fruit salad at a cookout over the weekend; it had kiwi in it, and I thought of you.
My secret – I’m terrified of being by myself. If Husband has plans to do something, I get upset if I know I’ll have to sit at home by myself. It’s sad, really … and this is one of the only times I have admitted to it.
.-= Megan´s last blog ..Wardrobe Love: Help Wanted =-.
My Friday Secret: I called crayons ‘crowns’ for the longest time until I was called out by a little girl I was babysitting when I was about 14. :/
:)
I thought they were called crowns!!
Thanks for sharing your secrets!
Ive never eaten a kiwi either! But I always find it really cool when people eat them straight out the kiwi skin with a spoon, is that weird? I think it is!
Theres a lot of things I havent tried that seems so mundane to other people, I just have grown up in a family that dont cook/eat those things!
.-= Katie´s last blog ..Friday =-.
hee.. mine is weird… I have a weird obsession with toes. I either love them or they gross me out. It’s a dealbreaker in any romantic relationship. Thank goodness my husband has adorable toes!
.-= Lynn´s last blog ..lynn in love with my mama =-.
I used to love kiwis but now I’m allergic! And I am terribly bad with the names thing too. As for bad memories, it’s best to keep them scarce. Makes life a lot easier -just think of freckles and love instead, I say.
My secret is……… that I have a crush on jaoquin phoenix…. even in his crazy beard. I LOVE him.
.-= SARAH´s last blog ..Romance =-.
I’ve only ever had pre-cut kiwi and I don’t like it. Friends eat it with a spoon from the skin and that just grosses me out. Hmm, secret for me? I cannot sleep very well right now no matter what. I only sleep about 6-7 hours a night and am still tired during the day, I’m worried that it’ll just get worse!
I’ve never been to Las Vegas and I have no desire whatsoever to visit Las Vegas.
.-= katrina´s last blog ..Free Clip Art: Paper Buffet (All You Can Eat) =-.
I love this idea! And really? No kiwis? They are kind of my favourite… I hope you try one someday.
My secret? I just got the job I’ve been fighting for all year and I’m TERRIFIED that I won’t be any good at it. *sigh* There is no winning. haha
.-= Shop Girl*´s last blog ..Three Hundred and Sixty-Four Days* =-.
You know, I don’t believe I’ve ever had a kiwi either. I should make that happen!
My secret…
I’m terrified that I’m not doing the right things nutritionally right now, that there is something I’m forgetting that would make everything go so well. I know I should relax and just trust myself, but you know…
.-= Elizabeth´s last blog ..All the hope in the world =-.
I don’t eat fruit. At all. I eat tomatoes, but I’m really fussy about them, thinly sliced… and in my head, they don’t count as fruit. Not really a secret, but I guess I’ll be one of those few people who can say you don’t HAVE to have the kiwi!
As for a secret… I wasn’t naturally conceived. My parents had trouble falling pregnant and had some fertility treatment (not IVF) before I finally popped up. My dad was diagnosed with testicular cancer when my mum was 6 months pregnant. As a result, I’m an only child :-)
.-= Kelly´s last blog ..Cherry Delight =-.
I’m blown away by the Kiwi bit! Maybe becasue I’m from California, and I’ve tried every fruit under the sun. Do it! You won’t regret it.
As for the club thing. I went through the party phase and it’s overrated. Being cozy at home on a Friday night is my favorite thing. (Basically your not missing anything)
.-= Purple Deer Vintage´s last blog ..B.B.Q.’s =-.
Sometimes I wish I were more like everyone else, which is a horrible thing to want.
.-= laura´s last blog ..This is still a test =-.
Omg, that is so weird about the kiwi part. I’ve always wondered when I would eat some and last weekend was the first time I tried it. It was good but not any better than pineapple or cantaloupe which I absolutely love!
.-= steph anne´s last blog ..Life is Full of Wonders & Thoughts =-.
You should definitely try kiwifruit, especially the golden ones. So delicious!
.-= Karen´s last blog ..When trust becomes a bad thing =-.
I love this list, Kyla! And I have a lot of secrets… including sharing the odd crush one with you. And the swearing like a 40-year-old man. (Because I do.)
But another secret… Sometimes, I don’t want to do ANYTHING during the weekend and just lie around. That’s my plan for this weekend, and I feel kind of guilty for not doing anything else..
.-= E.P.´s last blog ..Her smile =-.
I also have some bizarre crushes. Although I tend to move towards the other Culken; Kieren Culken. Check out the movies Igby Goes Down and The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys for awkward boys with character!
.-= ClaireSuzanne´s last blog ..A convoluted and round-about story about taking on a challenge =-.
Yes! I’m not alone! I actually bought Igby Goes Down a few years ago, and whenever anyone asks me how I am I answer “Well” because of one of the scenes in the movie!
I’ll have to check out The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, thank you =)
My confession is that I love blood sausage. A lot of people find that disgusting, but I love it. It’s something that my grandfather got me hooked on when I was little, and everytime I eat it, I remember him slicing the sausage, cooking it up, and then eating breakfast before watching Fraggle Rock.
.-= Michelle´s last blog ..Debt Diet 2010: A tiny update =-.
One of my grandma’s was really upset when I didn’t want to eat meat anymore, so when I came over she would only feed me kielbasa! I *loved* it and only found out that it was meat after the fact (I was six lol)
My Secret: I’ve never been to an actual bar. I’d rather be home alone on a Friday (or any other night of the week) night, than go out to a bar. I’m just not the dancing/drinking type. I was however, talked into going to a strip club once. Don’t think I’ll be repeating that one :)
Living with two kitchen boys last summer has given me quite a colorful vocabulary. They always laugh whenever I swear because I’m a nanny, so I’m “not supposed to know how to swear!”
.-= Angela´s last blog ..7 Quick Takes (Vol 2) =-.
I’m just the same way! I think it would be fun to learn to swing dance or something a little geekier like that, but I just don’t feel at home in a club any more. But I love that you skipped a normal bar experience and went straight to strippers! lol I think I will join you in placing that in the “I’ll pass” category ;)
oh my… i have the mouth of a sailor sometimes. it’s so bad. and it always surprises people! little 5’1″ flower child with the worst cuss mouth! haha.
i had the tiniest bite of a kiwi once, and i don’t remember what it tasted like… i just remember my throat started to close up and got all scratchy. i am highly allergic to them! which is funny because my mom is, too. so we never ever have kiwis in the house.
.-= kelly ann´s last blog ..sunsets and songs. =-.
This is the perfect defence! “My friend Kelly was almost KILLED by a kiwi. I’m protesting.” Thank you! I have my out! =D
And I think the reason I like swearing is the juxtaposition of it too. Just a little =)
Oh, kiwi is so, so good! I’m not a big fan of fruit but it’s one of my favorites.
(Also, don’t tell my blog followers but I have a bit of a potty mouth, too. I’m trying to stop, really!)
My secret (uh, other than the one above) is that sometimes I pretend I’m auditioning for American Idol while singing in the car. I really get into it, it’s quite embarrassing.
.-= Stephany´s last blog ..Sometimes, I Like to Whine =-.
I’ve been trying to stop too, it’s just one of those funny things- sometimes I feel like people have a very specific idea of who I am (domestic, girly) and I like trying to round that out and bring it closer to me. =)
I’m a car singer too. Unabashed. You’re in good company!
BUT EXHILARATED
.-= sandyb´s last blog ..My last day with my lunch bag and why I don’t feel guilty about quitting my job. =-.
I just quit my job (my last day was today) to pursue the things that have been on my mind and in my heart for so long.. I’m scared..but exhilarated..but scared.. ugh.
CONFESSED!
.-= sandyb´s last blog ..My last day with my lunch bag and why I don’t feel guilty about quitting my job. =-.
SANDY! Congratulations!! I’m heading right over to read all about this!
hey girl. love this post idea. might just have to borrow/steal it one of these days. :D
btw, i got my blog redesign finished and would be honored if you popped over and took a peek!
luv you!!
.-= shaina´s last blog ..a fresh start =-.
Borrow away! And your new design is beautiful! Isn’t it wonderful to have an online home that feels like home?
My secret: I hate stew! Never liked it, never will! :P
And I’m tempted to FedEx you a kiwi!
Stew is one of those things (like sushi) that I get to *say* I like, while really getting away with an entirely toned down version of it! lol
I’m actually a little scared to come home from my trip, I think that I might have a front porch full of fedex’d kiwis judging by the support for them here!
I love that you said “we weren’t a kiwi family,” as though there are families out there who are like “WE ARE A KIWI FAMILY, ALL WE EAT IS KIWIS.”
I’ve never had a plum! Or a hamburger!
.-= Suburban Sweetheart´s last blog ..Change Would Do You Good =-.
You’ve never had a hamburger? Now that’s a secret! Although… I guess I haven’t either, since I went vegetarian when I was six & I never had red meat! There’s another one for me too! =)
You have seen Saved, yes? I LOVE (that movie! and) Macaulay Culkin in that role.
Hmmm, secrets. I have never seen Sixteen Candles or Pretty in Pink.
(Also, my train of thought is apparently quite cinematic today.)
Happy! Friday babe. xo!
.-= Kerri Anne´s last blog ..Weekend Update, Sunny Seattle Edition =-.
Saved is amazing, I need to rewatch that!
And I totally want to mail you both of those. But I’ve never seen Pretty in Pink either- we should pick a night and live tweet the screening ;)
I love the haven’t been to a bar secret! That is crazy, but kind of cool. I love going out for drinks, but I don’t normally go to clubs or anything either.
.-= Jessica´s last blog ..Countdown To Graduation: Senior Year =-.
I love going out to pubs and being able to talk with my friends- but the club scene her is very different than in a US city. There are only a few different clubs, and because the drinking age is a lot lower they tend to be swamped with *really* young girls- after a while the novelty just wore off =)
And we have a gastro-pub up the street that’s amazing. No cover, awesome food, walking distance…. it’s kind of heavenly;)
Ha! I don’t go to bars that much either and people think I’m weird. I feel like I’ve outgrown it! Also, this sort of makes me want to bring back sunday confessional!
.-= Good Girl Gone Blog´s last blog ..Milestones =-.
I really feel the same way- I would rather go somewhere where I can have a drink and talk with my friends. It’s just not me!
Love this post, Kyla!!
I went to a private school, where we wore little plaid skirts.
My mom always made me wear biker shorts underneath, so I could play on the playground and not worry about flashing my undies.
To this day, I have to have shorts on under skirts. I’ve upgraded to fancy ones from Nordstroms, but at the end of the day they are just a glorified biker short.
(I may or may not be wearing them as I type this) ;)
.-= ashleyTIA´s last blog ..The one with some new music. =-.
That’s so funny! I have the same thing, we all wore boxers under our uniforms and now I have the reverse problem, I’m used to wearing skirts but I always have to remember to be a little more careful in them because I’m not wearing boxers! lol I should just do what you do! =)
You must try a kiwi! Kiwis are among the few fruits that I am actually not allergic to and they are delish! They can be difficult to peal so what you do is just cut them in hald then cut qound the edge (like you would an avocado) and then just spoon the flesh out. Yum!
Secrets… hmmm…
I love The Climb by Miley Cyrus. That’s really not too much of a secret; I mean I don’t advertise it, but I will proudly admit it if asked.
Thank you for the technique tips! I should try it while listening to The Climb, just to get psyched up! =)
Haha this is so darling! I had no idea you had never experienced kiwi. They’re delicious, but a little messy.
I don’t feel that I have any secrets that you don’t already know, but I’m going to try here.
1. I own 1 pair of jeans, and haven’t worn them in over a year. I don’t even know if they fit anymore.
2. I have incredible uncontrollable selective hearing. It gets me into trouble quite often.
That’s all I can think of for now :)
.-= Awmb´s last blog ..How I make my home more homey =-.
I love that you’re so devoted to skirts & dresses, I’m definitely taking after you on that!
Kiwi is great! Swearing is also fabulous. I honestly don’t know what I will do when I have kids if I can’t use the “F” word on a regular basis. I feel that it really enhances the profundity of my speech.
My secret: I watch The Hills online when my husband isn’t around and sometimes even check Perez Hilton’s site for gossip about Heidi & Spencer. Oh! Also Hills-related: I’ve read Lauren Conrad’s young adult novel and am getting ready to start her second. Major yikes.
That’s so funny! Bad books are so delicious, that sounds like great summer reading! And I’m with you on the profundity enhancers ;)
I watch The City at home, alone, so no one knows that I do it. This is the first time I’ve even said it out loud on the internet. I don’t even like the show….
.-= claudia´s last blog ..GTT: he loves me, he loves me not… =-.
Don’t worry! I stream my guilty pleasure TV online too- I’ll try an episode of The City so you’re not alone =)
I knew about my Husband before he ever showed up in my life.
About 2 months before we met I received a piece of “junk mail” that had my first name on it and (what I would eventually learn was) my Husband’s last name. It was totally random. Both the names are uncommon and I never would have used that last name before.
So when I met him and put all the pieces together, I was a lot more open to the possibility of the relationship than I ever would have been without that silly piece of mail.
*pinkyswear*
That is such strange happenstance! I love that the universe warmed you up to the idea before hand, how considerate! ;)
I’ve noticed several people are jumping on this “confessions” bandwagon. love it. Never got a chance to read Nora’s until today, but “It’s like I’m magic” has a good confessions series as well. I won’t yell you about the kiwi thing since everyone else already has, but they ARE good. good luck!
.-= Ashley´s last blog ..7 Quick Takes (10) =-.
Oh of course, thank you for reminding me of Brandy’s! I forgot that I’ve seen hers as well! They’re fun posts & a good excuse for a list. As a list addict, I can’t turn that down.
Go get yourself a kiwi immediately! Of course, they are only delicious when ripe. If overripe, they taste like there’s liquor inside… Kind of odd, but wonderful too. I try not to keep a lot of secrets, but perhaps it is because there are people out there who know about them, I just don’t talk about them in general…
Let’s see – how about I scratch myself in inappropriate places at work… If it’s itchy, I will get to the bottom of it.
.-= suki´s last blog ..Price per Use Ratio =-.
Okay, that’s a hilarious secret! There are definitely a lot of prp-kiwi-ers here, I might have to take the plunge!
I haven’t had a kiwi in much too long – they were one of my favourites growing up. Now I have a mental picture of you contemplating a kiwi in the grocery store, it’s rather entertaining.
I don’t think I’ve heard a single bad word come out of your mouth yet. I don’t believe it. :-p
A secret of mine: whenever the Biggest Loser pairs some clips of the contestants’ journeys with music, I start bawling. Actually, it’s pretty much any sort of video clip with sappy music.
.-= Manderz´s last blog ..Rollercoaster =-.
Oh we can skype & I can prove it to you! ;)
Your comment about sappy music makes me want to re-score my hot dog video lol
Kiwi is delicious!! You should take the step and try one.
I used to have a crush on Nicholas Cage… so NOT ok!
.-= Lacey Bean´s last blog ..Things learned in San Francisco =-.
Take the kiwi plunge? Don’t I need specialized spoons and all kinds of bravery? I don’t know Lacey, I’m not convinced! ;)
Haha I’m going to mail you a parcel full of kiwi’s one day ;)
A silly secret of mine is: I have a phobia of swallowing pills. Like, ANY pill really but mostly the larger ones. I think it stems from the time I almost choked to death on a Popsicle when I was little. It’s ridiculous really. I can’t take most vitamins because they’re too big so I get chew-ables haha. And one time my doctor had to prescribe me a super strong antibiotic syrup alternative to treat an infection. I’m such a baby.
.-= Liz´s last blog ..Mahalo Maui =-.
Oh that’s a tough one! I don’t have a phobia of it, but I hate that feeling of “Oh, yea, I’m definitely choking on that pill” it’s so gross! I don’t blame you for avoiding them for a minute!
I am a serial f-word user, but never cuss on my blog, either! Ah, well. Also, I have a wicked Hank Azaria crush :)
Hank Azaria is a good call! lol
I’m the same way- I just can’t feel like I’m writing properly if I’m swearing when I’m writing, it just doesn’t feel right.
KYLA. EAT A KIWI. Seriously. I remember being kind of afraid of them (they’re fuzzy!), but they’re soooo gooooood.
My confession? I have never done karaoke. I’ve seen it, I enjoy watching it, but the idea of SINGING on stage terrifies me, like almost makes me want to cry.
.-= Doniree´s last blog ..Can I get you anything? =-.
I’ve never sang karaoke either! I sang in COMPETITIVE CHOIR for 4 years, but never karaoke and I’m petrified. It’s on my life list though :) SOMEDAY…erm, Vegas?
Go out to the store and buy a kiwi. Now. They’re delicious :) I have odd crushes too, I don’t really have a type, it seems kinda random to me. And I have a terrible problem remembering certain things. It’s weird, I remember every conversation I have with some people… and then I can’t remember other people’s names. Again, it all seems kinda random to me.
.-= Taylor´s last blog ..This is ME =-.
I loooove kiwi – you should totally try it! :) i like the sweeter ones better.
i am so surprised at the swearing thing! you just don’t strike me as the type! i learned something new :)
my secret… hmm… i’m pretty much an open book! i guess my weirdo kind of secret is what a grammar freak i am. not super picky about little things, but if people don’t know how to use your/you’re, you might as well light my head on fire, because that’s how mad it makes me.
what else… i am impossibly optimistic. you woke up this morning? then you’re not really having that bad of a day. yeah, bad stuff happens, but in general? pretty sunny all the time.
.-= bigskygirlmt/raeleighjo´s last blog ..i love my job. =-.
I feel ya on #2. When I was 16 or 17 and visiting my family in Canada, I loved to go out to clubs and bars with my cousins ID. I think it was because I couldn’t back at home. Since I’ve turned 21 I’ve never gone out to a club in Los Angeles. Must’ve gotten it out of my system. Sure, I’ve gone to some local dive bars here in town, but 9 times out of 10 im the DD.
.-= ashley´s last blog ..Fabitty Fab! =-.
I can’t believe you’ve never had a kiwi! Woman, get on it! For a sour one choose a firmer kiwi, for a sweeter one pick a slightly mushy one. That’s how it USUALLY works! lol
My Friday secret… I let my four year old daughter skip preschool so we can go to the bookstore. lol.
.-= Margarita´s last blog ..Healthy BBQ Pulled-Chicken Sandwiches =-.
Maybe this weekend you should try out the things you’ve never done. Step by step; start out with a kiwi? There are some sour ones but they’re tasty.
I didn’t grow up eating kiwis either so it always feel like such a luxury when I do.
.-= Maddy´s last blog ..I’m On the Road =-.
I love your Kiwi secret! :)
I have another food related secret: I am a self described foodie who likes literally EVERY kind of food except…baked beans. One of the most common. I think they are the devil, I can’t imagine ever consuming them!
.-= Ray´s last blog ..The Graduate =-.
I think you should come out dancing with my girlfriend and me this Saturday at the World’s Largest Social! Rocky Rolletti, That 70’s Band! Cindy Klassen!
Sure, we don’t know each other, but you’re sure to know one of the 3000 people in attendance!

Honestly, I would be totally game for that if I wasn’t frantically packing before we go on our big road trip- that would be so much fun! Thanks for de-lurking and saying hello =)
Ahhh, these are fantastic. Philip Seymour Hoffman is WAY worthy of a crush, simply because he’s a genius actor.
My Friday secret…hmmm… Uh, this is kind of gross, but it’s all that’s coming to mind right now. I’m wearing a pair of work pants I haven’t washed for like three weeks. And I’ve probably worn them about six or seven times. Yech. Now I feel dirty.
.-= Hannah´s last blog ..In a week, a lot can happen. =-.
I love that I get your Awkward Crush stamp of approval- now if I can just get that in certificate form I won’t feel so lame lol
Oh—the kiwi thing also reminded me of this lovely shirt I have:
http://sale.images.woot.com/Lament_of_the_Kiwi72hStandard.png
love it :)
.-= Bridget´s last blog ..this day =-.
Ha! Oh the poor little thing- that’s the cutest!
Ah, you really haven’t had a kiwi til you’ve had kiwi pomegranate salsa (http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/kiwi_salsa/) It is so delicious—and you really get to taste how lovely the kiwi actually is! If you get to Boston, we will eat copious amounts of it, along with blue corn tortilla chips and good-for-you margaritas with a splash of lingonberry saft. In the Penthouse. So good.
I was trying really hard to think of a secret…and the best ones I could come up with were from my childhood. I had a love for side ponytails, reading so much that the eye doctor said I had to stop (!?), I was the official watermelon cutter at extended family events, mostly because I wanted to get away from my older meanyfaced cousins (…they weren’t *mean* really, but we are so different. 180º different). I was such a “good helper” ha.
.-= Bridget´s last blog ..this day =-.
Kiwi pomegranate salsa? You just kind of blew my mind, I have to try that! The margaritas sound like a key component =)
I cuss like a sailor, too. Except, well, that’s not really a secret of mine. Not at all actually. They’re just words, right? :)
Ha! Here here =)
I’ve never had a kiwi either! Something about the fact that the outside is kind of hairy turns me off…
Hm. My confession is that I’m on this “work out, be healthy” kick but that didn’t stop me from spending $15 on M&Ms to fill the candy jar yesterday. I think a full jar of peanut butter m&ms is fully compatible with a healthy lifestyle :)
$15 on M&M’s is amazing! I tend to think of my work outs kind of like calorie offsets for my body- it doesn’t mean I’m going to stop eating chevre… it means I have permission to eat it! I don’t want to waste away, after all ;)
i’ve also never braved the kiwi. i’m not even tempted though.. haha. i doubt anyone would say i’m big on change.
i will watch anything when harrison ford, robert downey jr or benjamin mckenzie are in it.
Yes! I just saw Iron Man 2. Robert Downey Jr is a very pretty (albeit scruffy) little thing ;)
One of my online secrets is I, too, have a potty mouth. Anyone who knows me in real life, outside of work, is well aware, of course. I just try hard to keep in check in the written word and at work. The rest of the time? I let it all fly out and sound like an old sailor, I’m sure.
Another secret that only like 4 people in total know? After I got my Kindle for Christmas, I read the whole Twilight series in January. And fell hard for it. Then I saw the movies, which I didn’t like as much as the books, but still like to watch. Shhh! ;)
I love the Twilight books too! I was kind of let down by the movies, but the books are just like candy. Fun & bad for you ;)
A mere few of my secrets:
1. I never learned to roller skate.
2. I kind of like the smell of a farm, cow manure and all.
3. I hate writing with a pencil.
4. My boyfriend and I met on myspace. I never tell anyone that’s how we really met.
5. I always have to put a weird time interval in the microwave. Like I’ll never put 30 but I’ll put 32.
Oh these are good ones! I have a farm related one, I think of weight in terms of how much things weigh relative to hay bales a lot of the time!
I ALSO HATE PENCILS! Oh man, they’re just so inferior to pens.
.-= laura´s last blog ..This is still a test =-.
You’re so put together in this space that I just can’t imagine you using “salty” words on a regular basis. I love it!
I don’t know if I really have any secrets worth sharing. But, we have a kiwi spoon for you to use when you’re ready to buy that first kiwi (it’s a plastic knife on one side to cut the kiwi in half and a spoon on the other side with which to eat it on the go!).
.-= Nilsa @ SoMi Speaks´s last blog ..Replay =-.
It’s one of those things that I don’t even think about, but I know when I was in Vegas last year the bloggers I met were really surprised that I swear!
I always forget that it’s hard to paint a full picture of who I am on this corner of the internet- filling in the gaps a little, even when they’re unexpected, is kinda fun.
I’m pretty sure my favorite part about this post is you staring down a Kiwi at the market.
My secret for today: Doing this little series about my top three worst dates is bringing back a flood of other date memories, both good and bad. I think I have selective memory too because it seems there are whole months I just don’t remember.

I would love to hear more of your stories- I haven’t really had a bad date… because I didn’t really go on many! Girl’s school will do that to you lol
I’m not a fan of kiwi. The skin reminds me of animal hide of some kind and just the thought of that freaks me out. You’re not missing anything, in my opinion.
.-= Lindsay´s last blog ..You Want to Be My Friend on Facebook =-.
I think it’s the skin that freaks me out too- it’s like a…hairy egg. I can’t get over it! lol
You’ve never had a kiwi? They are quite good. Maybe your day will come soon. I can swear like a truck driver too. Especially when I’m mad.
My secret: I forget that most people can’t have bonfires on weekends and usually wonder what city dwellers do for fun.
I have been TRYING to get Mister to condone a bonfire pit in the backyard, but we can’t have one that will fit the city permits, and while it wouldn’t really be an issue our crazy neighbours they would definitely call the city on us. I’m so disappointed! I wanted to make backyard s’mores all summer.
I have to come up with an alternative =)
Oh my gosh kiwi – you need to have some now! Delicious!!!
My secret: while I know they’re both a waste of my time and only promoting people who aren’t doing too much, I watch The City (which I justify because it’s better than The Hills) and 16 and Pregnant.
.-= Becky´s last blog ..Cars can bite me =-.
I’ve never seen 16 and Pregnant! I’m not sure where it would even be on in Canada. We get those shows on some specialty channels and I would like to watch one episode just to see what it’s like. I think I would need popcorn, and then maybe a walk around the block after lol
They’re on either MTV or MuchMusic.

So, this is purely a NZ thing, but when I read I have never eaten a ‘kiwi’ it took me a moment to realise you meant the fruit, and not someone from New Zealand! I guess todays just one of those days!
.-= Elly´s last blog ..Dogs: Not Hats =-.
Ha! No, I had to rephrase that first one a number of times to try and make it really clear what I was talking about. I wrote the first point and went “No, this is still going to sound really weird to Elly” lol
I never learned to ride a bike. I grew up in an apartment building outside of Washington DC by the Pentagon. People weren’t very big into bike riding around there. Now I’m six feet tall (!), so I’m a bit scared to learn because I have a lot farther to fall now.
Also, I have a huge crush on Sam Waterston in Law & Order, as Jack McCoy.

Oh you would totally get the hang of it, your sense of balance as an adult would definitely help you out- but that’s one of those things that’s surprisingly easy to miss! =)
Love the kiwi one! “is today the day?” nice!
My secret: I’ve never been to Chipotle, which I guess is a huge crime around these parts!
Oh! I have another- Chipotle has been *ruined* for me! We have an amazing locally owned mexican place here that makes exactly the same kind of stuff, but a thousand times better. Now I can’t enjoy chipotle!
If you want to skip it out entirely, make a day trip up to Winnipeg & I can ruin it for you too =D
Get involved in Kiwi. Delicious, and more vitamin c than oranges.
As for odd crushes (I like to call it wrong love) I am with you all the way on Phillip Seymour Hoffman. I got to see a play in Sydney that he directed and Cate Blanchett’s husband had written. Wowser. He really is amazing.
As for secrets, does the fact that I am sitting on the couch on a Friday night drinking alcoholic cider, watching True Blood mini-sodes count?
.-= Adele´s last blog ..This is where my head is =-.
Yes!! Wrong love is an amazing way of putting it lol That’s too funny.
I’m thinking that I might have to try a kiwi now that I’ve put it out there. Honestly for some reason, that’s scarier than getting my big tattoo!
You know? I’ve never eaten a kiwi either – I like kiwi flavour candy, but I just can’t bring myself to eat one!
I totally get the Macaulay thing, just something about him…
And swearing? I think time spent in theatres has done that to me too, they’re potty mouths!! ;)
.-= Lizzie´s last blog ..On those days =-.
I wonder how similar being raised in a lighting grid is to being raised on a pirate ship… =)
(And I’m so glad I’m not alone on Macaulay. Honestly it mortifies me, but I can’t deny it! lol)
I have never been drunk, not properly, and therefore have never had a hangover. I don’t really feel like I’m missing out, frankly.
I know all the words to ‘The Saga Begins’ and every time I hear American Pie I want to sing those instead.
If anyone tells me they don’t like Cher I take issue, because, come on, it’s CHER!
You aren’t missing anything by not having been hungover, I promise! While I’ve definitely been hungover many times, I haven’t been in recent memory- the feeling is just too gross! I’m not a hard drinker anymore, but if I get too into my cups I’ll drink as much water as possible to prevent it.
More than a secret, that’s a skill! As is knowing all the words to The Saga Begins, I think! lol
I love these! :)
Okay, my secret is sometimes I wear jeans more than once before they go in the wash. Jeans NEVER get dirty. Didn’t you know? Haha!
.-= sleepyjane´s last blog ..Fight the good fight =-.
I’m with you – I actually have “dry denim” jeans that you’re not meant to wash very often, and I wash them very infrequently. They’re perfectly worn in & almost never get dirty, I swear! lol
I wear jeans more than once before washing them as well. Unless they get something on them, I think it’s okay to wear them a couple times before washing them. :)
