Favourite Things // no. 1

One of the things that keeps my blog & work moving forward (aside from doughnuts) is enthusiasm. I tend to fall hard for the things that work for me, and I love to share them with the people around me.

Kyla Roma's Favourite Things - Tips and Tools for Bloggers

In the world of blogging and keeping an online space vibrant there are countless tools and resources out there that can make your life easier – and your blogging experience more fun – if you just know about them.

As a creative small business owner with client work and busy personal lives, I’m always on the look out for new tools and ideas to make life easier and keep us inspired.

So come peek behind the scenes and see what’s making us happy right now…

Our Favourite Book:

“Show Your Work! 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity and Get Discovered” by Austin Kleon. This simple, entertaining book is an engaging reminder of just why it’s so important for creative people to share what they do. If you need encouragement to blog, or a new infusion of inspiration? This is it. [explore]

My Favourite Blogging Tool:

CoSchedule is the social media sharing solution that I’ve been dreaming of for years. It allows you to promote your blog content to all of your social media networks when you post, and you can schedule future recurring posts that keep your archives generating traffic. It lets you work with a team or solo, and you can even schedule pins to Pinterest boards! It’s a stand alone app for WordPress that’s completely maintenance free and will make staying connected fun. We can’t get enough of it, and there’s a 14 day free trial. [explore]

Note: If you decide to purchase a subscription using the link above, we’ll get a little thank you from CoSchedule at no cost to you. But we would be telling you about it no matter what, because it’s amazing!

My Favourite Guilty Pleasure TV Show:

The Bachelorette. It’s so cheesy, but Leigh-Ann and I are both addicted to the Bachelor / Bachelorette series. It’s a fun way to relax after a long day, and we apparently can’t get enough of people asking each other if they’re “there for the right reasons”.  [explore]

My Favourite Instagram Account:

Oreo received a lot of attention (and hundreds of thousands of new followers) for their “you can dunk in the dark” tweet during the 2013 Superbowl blackout and their social media savvy isn’t limited to Twitter. You can learn an incredible amount by watching what big brands are doing well, and Oreo’s instagram account has the same witty, playful attitude with gorgeous photos to match the confidence of their twitter voice. [explore]

My Favourite Meal:

Shutterbean’s Sriracha Mac & Cheese. Leigh-Ann and I both have very strong feelings about comfort food, and cheese. And on top of that, I’m a hot sauce nut so this is my happy place. Now that the summer is heating up my kitchen I’m not using the oven as much, but I’m going to brave the heat to make a mega batch of my favourite comfort food. Did you know you can freeze it in individual portions of Mac & Cheese to heat up whenever you like? I can’t wait to try it, and have such tasty food any time I like – without time in a hot summer kitchen.  [explore]

My Favourite App:

Totally Rad Action’s iOS App, PicTapGo. Totally Rad Actions is the creator of one of the most high quality photoshop action sets, that’s been available the longest to Photographers and Bloggers alike. They make amazing push button solutions to make your photography shine, but mostly inside Photoshop or Lightroom. Well, somehow I missed that they have an iPhone app! Now you can get their amazing, easy to use photo actions for less than $2.00. What a dream! [explore]
