Motivation by Osmosis

One of the blessings of being a visual person is that it’s incredibly easy to get inspired. I soak something up everything that’s around me, from architecture to pop culture, but that can also makes it really hard to stay focused sometimes!  I’ve set up my desk to have a small vintage collection in one corner that I change whenever I go thrifting. This way I’m always inspired and energized when I sit down, which makes taking care of my to do list a hundred times easier. Or, a hundred times easier after my nails have been done with a new colour on Monday- I love my nail polish ritual :)

After the nail polish ritual is done I’m excited to focus on a new really awesome weapon in my arsenal of motivation!

One of the most positive moves for me lately is that  Leigh-Ann and I recently rearranged our office space to make it easier to get down to work. I now have amazing double wide cork boards over my desk that I’m excited to clutter up with my newest inspiration and as many lists as I can muster.

My newest addiction in my fight to keep moving forward is definitely my desktop. Lately I’ve been in love with making my desktop background a way to help me remember my big priorities for the week with simple customizations.

At the start of the week I’ll make a list of my priorities and then pick a background that goes with it- it’s simple and fast, and no matter what I’m working on I have a visual touchstone to keep me on track.

I thought this would be fun to share, so I made you a background that you can customize if you’d like to try this out:

2520 x 1775 |  2048 x 1536 |  1600 x 1200 |  iPhone

Just download the size that works for you and add your priorities for this week into it in a typewriter style font and you’re set for the week! You don’t even need any special tools, you can use free online editing software like Pixlr or Picnic.
