Moments from Our Christmas
Merry Post Christmas! We had a gorgeous Christmas this year, complete with a big family get together in the middle of the snowy prairies and lots of great food. Jesse and I woke up early to exchange stockings and made a delicious (indulgent!) pierogi breakfast, two of my favourite new traditions of ours, and then made our way to our family’s houses when we were feeling ready to get out of our PJ’s.
For the record, on holidays I’m never ready to get out of my PJ’s but I can be tempted by food and promises of champagne.
I had a great time with the family and in the days since, Jesse and I have been loving catching up on dedicated Us Time and getting into a home bound routine. While we might not be snowed in, it’s been fun pretending with the help of the new Sherlock Holmes, cozy blankets & a stock of tasty teas to dive into.
Between Christmas & New Years is one of my favourite times of year because time seems to loosen up its hold and let everyone just drift until it’s time to celebrate New Years Eve. I’m loving this calm, cozy week, but I can’t wait for New Years to get here! There’s nothing like celebrating what was, along with the possibility of the year to come.
Your Christmas sounds absolutely lovely!!
I am on staycation this week so am totally drifting along enjoying myself. It’s fabulous :)
Love the last two pictures! Super cute. :)
Your blog is lovely, so fresh and inspiring!
I love the calmness you descibe between Christmas and New Year’s you describe, it seems hopeful and full of promise!

YAY for pierogi breakfasts! My family always makes perogis for Xmas Eve and then we usually end up eating them in the morning for breakfast….sort of like the Polish/Ukrainian version of cold pizza (& just as delicious!). Happy Holidays Kyla!
Looks so nice! I also love this time of year! We are gearing up for our daughter’s first birthday (on New Year’s Eve) and I’m loving it even more! =)

These photos look so cozy and nice, but I do agree.. I really didn’t like the whole no snow thing, it really didn’t feel like Christmas at all!
And that look.. looks so good!
Wow! Your photos are so dreamy, Kyla. Especially the one of the pup, it looks like it was painted, almost! Glad to hear you had a wonderful Christmas. <3
Merry Christmas! Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I love your pictures but that one of the dog kind of startled me!
Oh yes, that’s my mom’s sweet dog Kona. She’s a rescued german shepherd x husky cross and her eyes are neon blue and a little haunting! Her eyes sometimes startle people when we’re out walking with her, but she’s a complete goof ball. She was really afraid of people when we got her, but after many years she’s relaxed to the point that she’s in silly, spaced out puppy mode most of the time :)
I love the one of the dog! I kind of get the same scared reaction from people with my pup- she’s a mutt from Mexico that looks a little wolfy, but she is the sweetest, best behaved dog ever. Little old ladies turn the other way with their tiny dogs when we go for walks…. I have to convince them otherwise!
Looks lovely! So glad you had a Merry Christmas – and I hope you have just as great of a new year!
Sounds like a lovely Christmas!
Looks and sounds like a lovely holiday! Mine was wonderful as well. I was home in North Dakota and while it was weird to not have a white Christmas, I am not complaining since last winter was so awful! Here’s to a fabulous 2012!
Todd is home until Jan, so yeah – I totally know what you mean about the holiday limbo. I love doing the limbo. Glad you’re doing it too!
I’m really focused on pierogi breakfast. I WANT THAT. Sounds like a delightful holiday!
I love the little cozy week that comes between Christmas and New Year’s; it’s perfect to cuddle up with said cozy blankets and just have time to have “Us Time” or “Me Time” or whatever time is needed! (My family does pierogi at the holidays, but not a breakfast — I may have to suggest this or just a general pierogi day for next year!) Glad you had a nice holiday!
