May through a Lomo Lens
Every week this year I’ve been playing with my Diana+F as part of a project I’m calling Analog 52. At first I was showing the results every week but I dropped off for May, and I’ve found that it’s a lot more fun for me to take my time with this and post the project once a month instead of wasting film and dashing down to have it developed as fast as I can! This is what May looked like through my (slower paced) lens…
This month I’ve been feeling so much more confident with using my camera, and I’ve been figuring out some tricks to get really beautiful results. For my birthday Leigh-Ann gave me a wide angle and macro lens for my Diana- I can’t wait to try them out and see what happens!
Wow! I’m so impressed! I’d love it if you could do a video post on your tricks and technique! x
I love love the pictures. There is a certain allure for film cameras. Xo!
Love the birthday present you got from LA! that’s pretty fabulous.
I think my favorite pictures is the one in front of the studio. Looks great!
these are great, kyla. i still remember one of your first posts on this, you’ve come a long way. i have the diana lenses and boy, they are fun! can’t wait to see the photos!
Awesome pics! I really like the on with the march, it’s so dream-like.
i am doing by best to get comfortable with my diana, but it’s been difficult. film is so expensive to develop now! i look forward to watching your project unfold.
Great pics Kyla. I am always super impressed with your photographs. I really like the one taken in the exchange district.
Kyla, I am loving this summary post of your merry month of May. I think you hit the nail on the head with the realisation that to analog is to go back to a slower paced existence – something I too am discovering/learning as I go ‘old school’ with my old SLR :) This is a good thing and feeds the soul in ways that new technologies cannot satisfy…
Ooh, these are beautiful shots, Kyla!
I need to get better at taking pictures. I love these pictures, so much!
I absolutely love the picture of Mal – so cute!!
I love this project so much! Great pictures. Can’t wait to see what happens with the new lenses.
Lovely photos! I especially like the ‘Nutty Candy’ one, I love that painted sign.
Isn’t it fun to learn a new gadget? If someone would pay me, I’d love to do that full-time :)
i LOVE the exchange district! sweeeet pictures.
I love that you’re doing this as a monthly series now – it’s great to see the different types of pictures you’ve been taking all together!
Oh man, I just got my first Diana pictures back and they are terrible! Haha! I mainly didn’t use enough light… a few turned out okay I guess, and only one double exposure made me feel proud. Not quite worth the $22 it cost me to get it developed. It would be rad if you could share some tips on using the darn thing.
Definitely! I was thinking of doing a video blog about how I use my camera and the tricks that I’ve been using to make it more cost effective :)
After I got my first role of film back I was really surprised by the lack of light it picked up! To get better results I’ve only been using it in full daylight- mostly for my self esteem ;)
You are so cool. Let’s be friends forever.
Alexis, please! We are friends forever!
And speaking of things that will forever remind me of you, Jesse’s sister has been telling us about Star Tours opening up again and said it was a lot of fun, and instantly I thought of you- have you tried it out yet? :)
Love the one taken out on the sidewalk in front of your studio!
AWESOME! :)
Wow! These are all really gorgeous! In fact, they’re my favorite round you’ve done! My favorite would have to be the third or the fifth picture, though I find all of them stunning! Can’t wait to see some more experimentation!

Lovely photos! Have fun with your lenses, I have the wide angle for my holga and its so fun!
