March Inspiration & Type A-ery
Current Inspiration
Canadian Pride – The Olympics have been amazing, and I’ve been kind of brimming with pride these past weeks. I love that everyone has been able to peek inside our borders to see how amazing embracing multiculturalism has made us. There isn’t anywhere in the world I would rather live than in the middle of this crazy experiment, and I love that the Olympics has rallied us around a shared experience. From the initial insecurity about winning medals to the bandwagon jumping in the last few days, the fans have made this such an amazing thing to be a part of. It’s just too cool.
Spring – All I can think about these days is being able to wear dresses outside, plant my garden, and relax on my deck. I’ve started to miss things like the smell of rain, and I would love to watch a goliath prairie thunderstorm roll in while siting in the swinging chair on my front porch. The city just looks grimey and worn right now, I would love to see the sand on the streets washed away. What do you say, March? Do you want to play dress up? You could totally pull off April’s weather.
Americana – Of course, in proportion with my swelling Canadian pride, my fascination with the US is completely out of hand too. Give me tepee motels, Mount Rushmore, vintage MTV and cowboy kitsch. I can’t tear myself away.
This March I will…
Celebrate being finished school until September!! I started seriously burning out last month, so I sat down and worked like a mad person, going offline and writing seven assignments (80+ pages) in a week and a half. I’m still recovering and am really behind in everything else as a result, but knowing that my time is fully mine now is amazing and I’ll be caught up this week.
Take an Indie Business course with three of my online idols, two of whom are from the same little city as me! I’m so excited to learn from some amazing ladies and to start pouring over all of my ideas, because this summer I’m going to be launching something amazing and I want to get it off the ground right. Woo!
Go for my tattoo consultation. March 13th is the big design discussion day, and then I’ll be booking for shortly after my 25th birthday at the end of May. I’m so excited it’s silly.
Plan a spring get away. I’ve been planning to go to Bloggers In Sin City again this year, but the reality is that spending my 25th birthday away from Mister on an expensive solo trip doesn’t seem right, no matter how much I want to meet the people who are going. Instead Mister and I planning the most amazing road trip to the west coast America that is perfectly unique, crazy, and us. My heart feels lighter now that I’ve made the decision and I can’t wait to spill all the beans about this trip, you’re going to love it!
Remember to slow down. This has been my only resolution all year, and I need to stick with it. Finishing my course work in such a crush pushed me into an intensely focused state of mind and I’m having trouble coming back to the normal pace of life. Slowly it’s working though, I’ve been catching up on sleep and decompressing. Who thought it would take so much work to unwind!
What are your plans this month?
Hooray for this being your last month of school until September, and I am so excited to hear about this business you’re launching in the summer.
This month, I want to slow down and take in everything. I feel like I’ve been rushing a lot recently, and I need to take deep breaths and live to the fullest.

This month I’m going to be 4 month pregnant and I’m also travelling to Vancouver from London (UK) to visit my in-laws. I love the West Coast, I can’t wait for the trees, the mountains and the coast!
Hope you also have fun on your trip!
West coast America, you say? Any chance you’ll be near West coast Canada?

Oh and yea for being done with classes until September! Dang you wrote alot of papers! That is definitely worth celebrating. Enjoy this much deserved break!!

I hope spring comes early too – and then stays. I hate it when she teases us, brings warm weather, and then goes away and let’s winter come back for one last hurrah. I am done with winter. Bring on the dress season! It’s been fun wearing tights all winter but I am kind of ready to be done w/ them!
I don’t have any big plans for the month of March. I want to try some new recipes. I barely cooked in Feb so I need to make up for that!!
The Canadian pride has been amazing this last week, but so has the amount of Americans congratulating Canada on the win. Congrats on having a break from school and the big trip out west. While in the western states feel free to come north a little bit and visit me ;)

Can I just say I am TERRIBLY JEALOUS school is on pause for you? ::grumbles at my classes::
And if what you are launching is that I am thinking, I’M SO EXCITED *claps*

I can’t wait to hear more about your next tattoo! I’ve wanted to get one for years but I’m just so easily intimidated. I have no idea how the whole thing works– finding an artist, making an appointment, sketches, designs, it all kind of boggles my mind! So I live vicariously through the beautiful tattoos I see on blogs :P

I’m also excited about spring dresses and skirts! And playing frisbee too for that matter. Sean and I are anxiously waiting for the 2 feet of snow that we got over the weekend to melt just so we can play and be outside.
I look forward to hearing details about the trip, it’ll be oodles of fun! Might there be one on the east coast someday? :)
I’m desperate to wear more summery clothes! When it was first winter I enjoyed wearing a coat and experimenting with accessories but now I’m bored. It’s interesting how spring is different around the world, you’re looking forward to thunderstorms but over here we only want sun.
This month I want to continue the steady flow of finished written work I’ve kept up since January and get back into language learning. I also want to take a shot at getting one of my dream jobs.
Oooh! I love your tattoo (saw it a couple of posts back). I also plan to go for a touch up on my latest one, cover up one that I no longer like and get a small Harry Potter tattoo on my foot. (The Deathly Hallows sign)Which is increibly nerdy but I’m excited!
I’m also meeting with a friend I haven’t seen in a while on Wednesday – I am really looking forward to that!
.-= sleepyjane´s last blog ..Nice to know you =-.
Think I’m gonna try blogging every day. Oh goodness, did I just admit that aloud?
Your March sounds amazing.

Happy March!

I really loooove your monthly inspiration boards. They are so cute and make me want to try my hand at them! ;) I’ll bet you’ve had a blast with the Olympics there. I haven’t watched as much this year as I normally do and it makes me sad. I’ve been so busy! It’s no excuse, I know. I am contemplating some new ink as well! I haven’t fully decided on something, but I know for sure that whatever it will be, I want it to be something that is me, right now. Not back then, or in the future. Just…now. :D I’m excited! Looking for that to happen sometime this year…
Oh! How exciting, about your road trip! That is so cool, and sounds like so much fun. I’m sure you guys have your trip all planned out and everything, BUT, if you do so happen to end up in the San Diego region, you would be more than welcome to come hang with me and my boyfriend! Hehe…anyway. Just putting that out there. :P
Great post!
.-= Lisa´s last blog ..Sometimes, all it takes is a little color, and the world is new again. =-.
I have to say, watching the Canadian pride was really inspiring. Makes me want to cross the border and come up for a visit :) I have no idea why your Comment Luv continues to hate me, can you put in a good word?
Omg new tattoos?!?! I was also swelling with all sorts of Canadian pride during the Olympics….and I’m not Canadian. It was just cool to see such happy spirits between the US and Canada throughout the games. Bravo!

I can’t wait for Spring dresses too! Road trips are great, the furthest I’ve gone in a car is between Boston and D.C., I’d love to go cross country though.
.-= Susan´s last blog ..vintage memories =-.
One of my favorite thing to do is sit outside and watch a thunderstorm. The smell is so breathtaking!
You HAVE to come through Arizona on your roadtrip! If you need a place to stay, do let me know. :)

Dear Mr. Golden Sun,
We wish for you to make your appearance. It is really that hard to shine a little harder, get a little warmer and let us enjoy the outdoors at a time known as Spring?
Didn’t think so.
Love,
Kyla and Brittany

So jealous you’re finished with school until September! This semester is just beating me up in every way it can but I don’t know if I could have the dedication to do what you did! So congrats to you!
brilliant! look for my list later tonight.

I know I’m behind on my blog reading, but I just wanted you to know that I loved your tattoo post. I need to do something similar about the gigantic piece I just got on my thigh… everyone has their own stories about tattoos and that’s part of what fascinates me about it. I can’t wait to get another one in two weeks.
P.S. I love Americana too. WHYYY?! Lol. <3
.-= abby´s last blog ..an internet timeline. =-.
March sounds absolutely perfect, Kyla. So uniquely you (and Mister) is right! This month for me means I will begin training for a 10-mile race and hunker down on spending, so we can enjoy our beach vacation towards the end of the month. Cannot wait!
Happy March! I can’t wait to see spring start here either. Things are really tattered-looking around here too, plus there are still big (oh so black) mounds of leftover snow. Give me flowers and sunshine any day.
This month I am reassessing my goals, decluttering and spending time reconnecting with people.

I like the idea of slowing down. I need to do that too. Can I steal it for a goal of my own?
I’ll add it to saving money, learning to crochet and making my own dress from scratch as my goals for the month. :)

That sounds like fun :) I would love a road trip! Is the class still open for sign ups? I was thinking about doing it and totally forgot about it!

West Coast. Hmmm, you could always bring Mister TO Bloggers in Sin City! :)
I will miss getting a chance to meet you, but like we’ve already said, there’s always next year!
I have it in mind to plant a garden. I may end up picking your brain on it, as I’ve never done it before.

a west coast road trip sounds amazing. I’ve always wanted to road trip somewhere across country to take advantage of the incredible scenery and adventure.
This month, I will be celebrating my 24th birthday (on friday to be exact), deciding on a laptop purchase, and patiently awaiting the arrival of Spring.

I heart Canada too, however, while I am grateful to Canada for contributions to the world such as Michael J Fox, Ryan Reynolds and Degrassi: The Next Generation, please take back Nickelback. ;-)
Seriously, Canada did an amazing job and I’m now obsessed with visiting Vancouver.
Awesome, what a great picture!! I love it. I can`t wait until it`s a wee bit warmer too – spring is right around the corner. Congrats on finishing school, I`m just starting `school` tonight!

I look forward to living vicariously through all your downtime!!
That must have been rough getting all the school work done but now you have SIX WHOLE MONTHS to yourself!! Just for you!!! That will be fabulous!
I absolutely adore all the Canadian Pride right now…I am SO proud to be Canadian on any given day…right now it’s just amazing!

Oh I can’t wait to hear all about your trip that you have planned with Mister!
March is going to be crazy for me: finish up my LAST semester of school, move to a new apartment, finish planning our Europe trip. Whewie. I have a feeling it will go by in a flash.
The Olympics – and Canadian pride – is AMAZING! <3 Canada!

My plans for this month involve finishing Baby preparations and somehow planning a weekend getaway for my husband and I amongst all that insanity ~ once Baby arrives, who knows when we’ll get to take a trip for just the two of us again? I wish I could remember to slow down …
I love reading about your plans!
I’m also getting my arm finished March 5! I’m nervous and excited, too!
Oh how I love your March list! I can’t wait for Spring either and to see your new tattoo! Ahhh. I promised myself I’d get more work done on my sleeve with this freelance gig monies so I’m excited to go under the gun{?} as well. xoxo

It does! =)
We’re just booking all the dates but Mister is already aware that we’re going to be getting together with you… I just hadn’t told you yet! lol
I am sad you won’t be coming to BiSC, but I guess this just means we’ll have to plan another meet-up. Sometime, somewhere, somehow. And make it super special. But a west coast trip sounds absolutely splendid! I really can’t hold it against you. ;-)
I’ve felt so much Canadian pride swell up in me these past two weeks. And I’ve turned into a crying, emotional mess watching all the great moments happen.
I’m intrigued by this Indie Business course. You’ll have to tell me all about it sometime.
Spring seems to be coming early to my northern town, and I am so happy. The sun is peeking out when I get up in the mornings now, and the mercury is sitting just above zero. It’s doing wonders for my state of mind. I am more than willing to share, so hopefully this weather spreads out towards you very soon.

Will Portland be on that list? We’d love to have you! We have great vegetarian/vegan restaurants, and I’d be happy to treat!
I think we’re going to be just barely missing Portland, but I would love to meet you- we’ll have to talk =)
Aaah, I cannot wait for spring – it’s one of my favourites :D Flowers, cut grass… I’m smiling already :D I’ve absolutely loved the Olympics this year, and I think Canada was a brilliant host – so lovely, happy, and warm people!!!

You’ve got so much going on–what a thrilling time!
I noticed that you didn’t have the *east* coast mentioned. Ahem.
I see that I’ll just have to swing to the prairies–I’ve never seen any, and you’re a fabulous excuse!

This month involves reconnecting, letting go, and relaxing. I’ve gotten better at settling myself down lately but you are right, unwinding is just as much work as winding ourselves up can be :) I’m hoping to do more spring cleaning, donating things I no longer want or need, and have a sense of “ommmmm,” this month as well.
I will, however, be a bit sad to see the Olympics go. It’s been so awesome to come together as a country and a world the last few weeks. I’m going to miss it.

Canadian Pride – I remember when Germany was hosting the Soccer World Cup 2006. I was still back in the US but my family and friends told me how that even changed Germany to the better. People were out walking around with flags showing how proud they were of Germany. In 2008 I was lucky to be in Germany when there was another soccer event in Austria. It was amazing. Every single time Germany won a game, everyone was out on the streets celebrating. It was perfect.
Spring – Tell me about it! As much as I love winter, I am ready for spring to get here. I want to wear dresses as well. I want to run outside in shorts and a t-shirt again. I want to have a natural tan.
Americana – Cowboy boots are currently on the top of my list of things I want NOW! :)
I can’t wait to see what you have planned for the summer (I am refering to the “launching part” of your post).
And my plans for this month: I want to keep running. I have gotten a little faster but I still haven’t reached my goal pace yet. My overall goal is to participate in a marathon one day (one day as in maybe next year – MAYBE!). I want to write an awesome paper for my geology class – one that will be worth mentioning in a PhD application process (if I will ever decide to do that). Also, we are planning a trip to Walt Disney World for Labor Day and hopefully we can finalize this plan in March. :)

I am more than ready for spring weather as well! Even a little rain will be better than the cold!
Your trip to the west coast sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Can’t wait until you divulge a little more about it! Also a little curious to see what you’ll be launching this summer. :)
Here’s to a wonderful month of March!

WEST COAST OF AMERICA? Umm, I need an email regarding when to expect you like, RIGHTNOW.
So excited for you, Kyla!
I think your March plans sound wonderful. I’m also really glad that making some decisions has brought you a sense of peace. I heard birds chirping this morning while I was outside with my dog and on the way in to work. It gives me hope that Spring isn’t too far off now.
“I would love to watch a goliath prairie thunderstorm roll in while siting in the swinging chair on my front porch”. And I would be running down the street getting soaked just so I could share the swinging chair and take it all in with you. This morning I noticed how it was DAYLIGHT by the time I got to work – which made me smile. More sun = less ice = spring is on the way soon! :)

“Remember to slow down.” Umm, that is going to be my MANTRA for this month, because it’s going to be a crazy one. Lots of trips and birthdays and parties and plans, and it’s only March 1. Gulp.

So many surprises in store from you, missy! I can’t wait to hear about them all! I am completely looking forward to Spring, too. So over this weather, and we have another snow storm headed our way tonight and tomorrow.
I still have two months of school left, so I’m going to focus on that. Luckily, midterms are this week and spring break is next week, so I’ve finished the hard parts. I hope.
I’m really looking forward to spring, too. I miss the sunshine.
I won’t be making it to Bloggers in Sin City either. Husband and I wanted to take an anniversary trip in June, so spending a big hunk of money on a trip to Vegas just wouldn’t work out. I can’t wait to hear about your trip!

This month I will be celebrating a birthday {26 tomorrow in fact!}.
I will start my new modules for my professional qualifications – lots of distance learning – yay!
Also now that spring is appearing and the weather is warmer, I will pick up my running again.
How nice to be off school until September!!! So jealous!

Hi! I think I found your blog through one of your comments on the Indie Business site… and I love it. Congratulations on getting school out of the way until September- that requires some serious dedication. I don’t think I was ever motivated to do something even remotely like that when I at school. Your March plans sound great, and achievable. My only plan so far is to get my new blog off the ground– I’ve been blogging for years, but recently decided to reinvent myself with a craft focus. Oh, and getting right into Indie Business class!
Can’t wait to see your new blog & to get to know some more of the Indie Business girls! =)
