You get the ones you love the best
Surprises are my absolute favorite, and this weekend has been chalk full of them. A few weeks ago I heard from my amazing friend Andrea who lives on the east coast & blogs her deliciously gourmet food adventures. She was taking a trip west and had scheduled a lay over in the prairies so we could meet for the first time! On Friday I picked up Andrea & her boy from the airport and got to have dinner with them, and it was wonderful and surreal! She’s my first blog friend who has come to the prairies, and by the end of our visit I was daydreaming of visiting the east coast.
On Saturday the summer cold I’ve been fighting off finally caught up with me & levelled me. It’s never fun being sick, but a 24 hour bug was a great excuse to chat to my twitter friends, knit, nap and watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And I maintain that popcorn for lunch can make anyone feel better. :)
My second surprise was that late last week Mister found last minute tickets to the first show in the Something Corporate reunion tour! It means that we left yesterday on a road trip to Minneapolis, and I’m so thankful that I’m feeling well enough to see them! I hadn’t seen them live when their lead singer was diagnosed with leukemia, and now that he’s in remission I’m really excited to be able to support them in person, especially because they were such a big part of my high school soundtrack.
Minneapolis is gorgeous, as ever, and is brimming with great food and good people. We’re only down for a heartbeat, but I’ll be blogging from the road, I can’t wait to show you the sights!
Do you think you’ll do any knitting how-to posts (or vlogs!) any time soon? I’d definitely LOVE to see how to start some of the basics. I tried teaching myself how to knit, but I need more patience, and I really don’t know what size needles/yarn I should start out with!
Can’t wait to hear about how the trip went!
sounds like a fantastic weekend! i’m hoping that someday i get to meet up with other bloggers too :)
What a lovely weekend minus being sick. Hope you’re feeling better now!
Hope you have fun at the show lady! If you have some down time I’d love to grab coffee or bite here in my little town.
Oooh! Your weekend looks lovely. <3 Have fun on the road!
I’m so envious that you got to meet Andrea! I’m certain she’s just as charming in real life as she is online. I’m glad your weekend was so amazing!
I dug out all my old CD’s from high school the other day and SC was one of them. Seriously, the anthem to my high school days for a while there. It was great to hear them again!
sounds like a dreamy, wonderful and amazing weekend, dearest!
OMG Andrew McMahon is srsly a dreamboat. Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin are near & dear to my heart. Have you seen his documentary?
Sounds like a brilliant weekend, hey. And oh! I’m so jealous you got to meet Andrea! I bet she’s as amazing in person as she is on her blog :)
Sounds like you had an amazing weekend. That photo of the two of you is so amazingly cute!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the win.
Speaking of meeting bloggers, I met my very first in person blogger yesterday.
Danni from Oh Hello Friend.
It was delightful!
:)
Hooray for BTVS! Sounds like a great weekend overall, and I’m glad you’re feeling better after that cold!
Yay for meeting Andrea! So cute that she scheduled a layover for you! Have a wonderful time at the concert and give Lisa a hug for me :)
IM SO JEALOUS you guys got to meet up! Aww, so cute. That picture of you and Andrea is so dang cute, I can’t even handle it.
I LOVE Something Corporate!! My first love asked me to be his girlfriend at one of their shows in high school. {swoon}
So I know it’s ridiculous, but I sort of felt like NO ONE knew who Something Corporate was and I was always on my lonesome belting out to Forget December, Punk Rock Princess and my live version of Konstantine… SOOOOOOO OMG! This means we are soul mates. SOUL MATES. ::creepily breathes heavily::
So jealous that you and Andrea got to hang out- you’re my favorite Canadians!
You two are adorable! I love road tripping for concerts – I’ve gone to Chicago a few times just for shows.
Oh how fun! I am mad jealous of the catching up with friends thing…and Minneapolis, woo! Maybe one of these times we’ll be in the same place at the same time. Or ya’ll will come out to Boston and stay with me while I play the ridiculously funny fifth wheel as well as master baker-and-purveyor of gluten-free sweets. (my place does sleep five total, you know!)
Aww, I’m so happy you get to see SoCo, but so sad that you’re in MN and I’m not! Have a marvelous time!
Oooh, yes. Yes.
The East Coast… I think you should.
So awesome! Have fun & can’t wait to hear more!
It’s never fun being sick in the summer (I feel the cold I’ve been fighting off creeping up on me as well) but sometimes it forces us to take an entire day and just relax. Glad you’re enjoying your trip & so fun that a friend visited you! I hope I can do that some day =)
Sounds like a lovely weekend! Isn’t it wild meeting online friends that you’ve known for so long in the virtual world? Surreal is definitely the word for it!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is great! Have fun at the concert!
Can’t wait to see you this afternoon! That is so cool that you are goign to see Something Corporate live!! I am sure it will be an amazing concert!!
