Friday Finds Love Public Radio Stars
Today it’s been all I can do to avoid talk about the radio on the radio! Garrison Keillor of A Prairie Home Companion has announced he’ll be retiring in 2013 and in the US the house has voted to cut funding to NPR. Those are some big changes! So there’s a little positive out there too, this week’s finds celebrate radio, NPR, and a little Ira Glass for good measure.

Confession: I have such a crush on Ira- but who doesn’t! :)
I love click and clack the tappett brothers … ahh cartalk.
Oh gosh, as if I couldn’t love you enough, you love NPR too?! I did a lot of researching while recently in a little “argument” on facebook over NPR, and Liz is spot on :) Thank goodness, I don’t know what I’d do without Wait, wait, don’t tell me!!
Everyone is freaking out about NPR but there’s really no need to worry. The Senate will never pass the bill and Obama sure as hell won’t sign something like that anyhow. Even IF by some miracle it were to pass, federal funding for NPR is only 2%. So they’re safe :) Lol sorry for the political word vomit but I work in politics and we’ve been discussing this topic so its on my brain!
You work in politics? How did I miss that? :) As a politics major you never need to apologize to me for that ;)
My understanding of it is that it’s definitely a stunt and not something that’s a practical concern, but I thought it was a fun theme/good excuse for a treasury!
I love NPR so much! It keeps me company all day while I work. Without that funding – are they just going to cease to exist – or what? What will happen?
i have listened to NPR since i was in 2nd grade til now..(i am 28)
my dad always had it on when he drove me to school every morning. & i still listen to it after all these years
plus, a prairie home companion is so wonderful..i love it all.
wonderful post. i love the first print.
have a wonderful weekend.
xoox
I’m so sad about the decision to cut funding. i can’t believe they rushed the bill to the floor as an “emergency procedure.” i’m glad you’re a supporter of the great programs NPR offers and the way they inspire many of us!
I LOVE that magnet. So cute!!! Have a great weekend Kyla!
