Friday Finds are rough around the edges
Something about fall makes me love raw, natural stones just a little bit more than usual – especially in large statement pieces. I love the balance in a dramatic piece that’s not trying too hard. In my mind all of these pieces are the opposite of fussy and controlled, and I love that quality in both people and jewelry. So be warned, if I see you wearing one of these in a coffee shop? I’ll probably try to pull up a chair and make friends.
clockwise from top left:
triple quartz cluster from Noble Town Vintage – $24 (sold)
No. 11 Amethyst Double Ring from Moorea Seal – $22 (sold)
crystal quartz with 12k gold chain from Brilliance Found – $42
No. 276 bullet and amethyst necklace from Dinosaur Toes $38
Do you use your accessories to play up your personality?
Based on my collection of vintage lockets and cameos I think I do without even really knowing it! Although I bought a silver rose ring that’s about the size of my head yesterday, and I think that just says “I work in a jewelery shop” :)
i love these finds and they’re all so affordable (double score!) i am in definite need of some accessory pick me ups this fall.
I love the purple/gold pendant, the juxtaposition between the gold and the rough stone is gorgeous!
Amethysts are my favorite! I love them looking all rugged and fierce. One of my favorite rings has a big ole hunk of amethyst on it.
These are gorgeous!! I love big bold pieces of jewelry, they’re so fun. I’m a small person and I always worry that the pieces I own are too much but I love them so. I’m often a little more subdued with my clothing choices so the jewelry is what I use to accentuate outfits. I’d kill for that amethyst ring!
I love bold accessories on other people, but I just don’t have the confidence to pull them off! Or I need someone to just come over to my house and say – wear this with this!
So I usually stick w/ simple pieces. But I do really like chunky bracelets. I feel like it’s ‘safer’ to go bold with a bracelet than with a necklace… So maybe the bold bracelets are my training wheels and eventually I will be rocking a bold necklace!!
You work in a jewelry shop? How fun! I have a great love for all jewelry, and thoroughly enjoy dramatic pieces (most rings). What’s your favorite piece of jewelry that you own?
<3
I really love bold jewelry too- I think my favourites are tied! I have a beautiful teal & white cameo that I love, and I just bought one that’s a brass octopus on quite a long chain, it’s kind of amazing! :)
GREAT find, Kyla! I’m in love with that bottom right necklace. So pretty!
Oh I love the bottom right one. Other than that, I must admit I am not into really big jewelry.
LOVE these…I need to find some of my own soon. By the way, I’m a regular reader but never comment, but I wanted to tell you I saw those Russian nesting dolls in a store today and totally thought of you…hopefully not creepy!
Aw Katie, thanks so much! That’s so flattering – not creepy at all :)
I’m glad that you said hello after reading for a while *waves hello back*
Have a great weekend!
I love things that have a tough yet feminine vibe – these pieces fit that perfectly! You’re making me want to get a crystal necklace now :)
I love these! Dinotoes is the best! She’s a very cool chick also. =)
I LOVE them all but am espeically drawn to the amethyst in the bullet casing. Makes me want to put on jewelry, then hit the shooing range!
Andy by “shooing range” I meant SHOOTING range. =)
Also, pic of the new nose ring?
Let’s just say that its Friday and obvs I can’t type or spell and leave it at that, shall we? Le sigh.
Ha! Okay two things:
1. You and I need to open a shooing range, where you just shoo plates and silhouettes of people to improve your shooing accuracy. Because I think that would be amazing.
2. Do we have a psychic link?! I’m convinced that I didn’t tell you I was getting a new nose ring, and yet… here you are! Knowing that! lol Pictures will come on Monday :)
I used to a lot more! I have 2 cuffs that I wear all the time & if I could I’d wear more rings but my fingers are so small it’s hard to find inexpensive ones that won’t just fall off & get lost. :)
yay! so glad you dig my jewelry :)
I plan on going on a natural stone hunt on sunday to find more precious stones to turn into rings and other rad bling :)
<3 moorea
That ring is fierce! I certainly wouldn’t want to be punched with that bad boy!
I don’t accessorize at at. It’s always the same necklace, rings and jewelry everyday.
I used to wear amethysts in high school … all the time. This post is taking me way back in the time machine!
Cameos and Lockets…me too!
Cute! I love seeing what finds you share with us.
I used to carry a crystal arond with me (for good luck?) and then I stopped. Maybe I should start that practice up again soon!
Those are lovely, Kyla.
My great grandfather was a jeweler, and used to work with natural stones like these. Every time I visit my grandma, I try to sneak away with a new treasure from her jewelry box ;)
