Friday Finds are Postal
One of the things that I’ve been working on lately is getting back in the habit of sending mail to friends, I love pulling together packages with patterned tape and kraft paper, and finding just the right card for a friend. I also love how the post office in my area is open until all hours, so I can go almost whenever I want! Last week I sent out my first batch of mail- my idea is to get on top of birthdays and holidays first, and then start sending little “just because” notes.
clockwise from top left:
Custom hand calligraphy from Emililies – $55
self inking parcel address stamp from NoteTrunk – $26.95
50 unused vintage floral stamps from Verde Studio – $25
XL Weatherproof canvas messenger bag from ikabags – $59
I think that any & all of these would improve my mailing experience :)
I love sending and receiving snail mail. It’s so much more personal.
What a wonderful idea! Love your curation, also ikabags’s marine textured beautiful bag! Thanks for sharing us :)
All my best wishes from Ankara,
Ayca
That bag and those stamps! I love them both so much!
That bag is really nice. For a moment I read that as ikea bags and I thought, what, IKEA makes bags now? (Wouldn’t be a surprise, would it?)
i absolutely LOVE that messenger bag!! too cute for words.
I love sending and receiving mail! When I was younger I used to be penpals with a lot of my cousins. I loooove that striped bag!
I want that address stamp! How lovely and unique! I need that before I send out holiday cards…
I think you know that I love love love snail mail! One of my favourite things to do is send letters and cards, finding that special card for somebody is so much fun! Do you still make your own cards?
Oh, Kyla, you always find the cutest stuff, on Fridays & otherwise. Jeepers. I love that bag. I’m digging natuical stripes these days, but in accessory form, not bodily form, because my boobs can’t handle horizontal stripes. :)
I LOVE getting snail mail! I need to get better about sending it, too :-)
OMG I LOVE THAT BAG. It would be perfect for traveling since it’s nice and roomy! And the stripe/color gives it a sort of Parisian feel (for some reason, I associate stripe patterns like that w/ Paris??).
Getting snail mail is the best. I need to be better about sending snail mail. I have a mental list of people Ineed to send packages to! Our post offices do not have the most flexible hours, though, so I really struggle to get there on time!!!!!!
Have you heard of the book, “The Jolly Postman”? It’s this book that has letters from all the different nursery story characters. It is a children’s book but it is AWESOME.. For instance, there is a letter of apology from Goldilocks. The book cracks me up. It’s one that I really should own as an adult (I bought it for my nephews). You should check it out!
This is one of my goals too since I love receiving snail mail and sending mail out too. Hopefully some day I’ll receive more snail mail than bills. :P
First, I am baffled that your post office is open all hours! How fun. That sure would make things easier for me!
We are big mail senders in our house. We even started a post/notecard exchange recently via our blog and joined Postcrossing.com as well. So fun!
Also, that bag it too darn cute.
Yes! I have approximately 17 letters to write and packages to put together this weekend, so I’m probably going to forgo the fluff festival and do this instead. As well as iron the linens from Midsommar…it’s finally cool enough outside that I can stand the thought of ironing!
I absolutely love that self-inking address stamp. Totally might have to get one for myself!
Oo, floral stamps. Love.
Any kind of mail instantly makes my day but the prettier it is, well, the less I want to open it =)
Also, the fact that your post office is open at all hours is phenomenal. Ours is.. well, not.
There is so much care and consideration in snail mail and lovely packages. I’m sure your friends and family are feeling very special with all the postal love you are sending out!
I love mail — both sending and receiving. I’ve been really bad about sending it lately. Its a practice I need to get back into the habit of. I usually go to the card store and stock up on their just because cards, then I can fill them out when I have a few free moments and drop them in the mail. How great that your post office is open all hours. I wish mine was!
That calligraphy in the first photo is lovely. I think just about everyone loves receiving mail, I wish more people would go back to actually sending them. They are so much more personal, you can only convey so much in electronic form.
