Friday Finds are Perfect for Patio Afternoons
This Friday I can’t help but be a little hopelessly lost in the sunshine and warmth of the early summer. I’m still at the stage where, when I walk outside and the sun hits my skin I have to take a moment and soak it in, because the sun is actually warming me. I don’t want to sound dramatic, but it’s just such a thing worth celebrating after such a long winter!
I’ve been in the throes of some big design projects that have been taking over my days, and I’ve been working from home for the past week. Usually working from home makes me lonely after a while but I’ve been really enjoying it. So if you’re having flash backs to two years ago when I was unemployed and started ironing all of Jesse’s shirts while watching the virgin suicides? We’re not there yet, thankfully, and I think it’s mostly because I can take a break to read outside or do yoga-esque stretches safely in the privacy of our little south facing backyard deck.
Since it’s a bit too lovely to let go of, my treasury this week is inspired by sunny weekend afternoons spent on patios with friends, and how they can melt into evenings and laughter when the stars align just so.

Today I’m biking to a quick doctor’s appointment, rewarding myself with new sparkly nail strips (so addictive!) and working the afternoon away before going to see a summer movie. I think it’s going to be a great day- even if it’s light on the patio front.
What’s your version of the perfect summer evening?
Mine is walking to a local pub with Jesse, meeting up with friends, having amazing food and craft beer before walking home under starry skies. Fingers crossed that we can make our perfect summer evening’s happen soon :)
My grandma definitely has those pyrex mugs in her kitchen!
Great finds! The blueberries look delicious – and the messenger bag is adorable!
I love those dresses and that 8mm camera, love all the stuff you picked out!
Lovely finds! That 1970s dress and sun hat are so cute..
My perfect summer evening involves getting some sweet tea with friends and driving around with the windows down, or opening all the windows in the house, playing some good music [like Fleetwood Mac or James Taylor], and crafting away in the middle of the floor. Summer is my favorite season and the window must always be open. :]
This will be my first summer as a mom so I’m looking forward to having little mid evening picnics with her!
I love your finds, especially that vintage lantern cross stitch!
My perfect Summer evening is Jen and I running to the store for some fun beer and maybe something like a good fruity wine, coming home, dancing and laughing in the kitchen as we get food ready for the BBQ; going out on our deck, BBQing food while enjoying our hookah and just watching the sunset and the night sky as we eat, drink and talk. ^_^
I am wishing for a little sunshine. It’s been raining for a week straight in my corner of the U.S.A. So, I just want to see that bright sun. A perfect summer evening for me would start with some grilled chicken and veggies, margaritas, board games, ice cream and catching fireflies or drawing with sidewalk chalk.
Great finds! I am fairly certain that my grandma has some of those vintage pyrex mugs.
My perfect evening is sitting out on my deck, drinking and enjoying the company of great friends or heading out into the country for a bonfire and music under the stars.
oooh i know what you mean about the sun….there’s a point in alaska when the sun goes from being just light to becoming warmth, and it’s just wonderful!
My Grandma has the pyrex mugs with the gold butterflies on them :) I’m pretty sure there are matching plates too!
I love the dresses. And the prints. If only I had an endless supply of money. Sigh.
Anyway, my ideal evening? that’s tough, it’s probably either Mexican & margaritas on a patio followed by a late night stroll OR grilling at home on the patio, listening to my favorite band of the day, and staring up the stars.
Love the messanger bag and the vintage 1970’s dress! I have a set of lates, bowls, tea cups and saucers, as well as serving bowl and plater that match the vintage Pyrex butterfly gold mugs. Love those too!
My version of the perfect evening is coming home from work and hanging out with my husband. I like to go drive to Sonic with the windows down and get a flavored slushie and then take a long drive around the city at night and talk, listen to music and laugh. It is seriously my favorite thing to do during the summer!
Love that Irish Dress – and even though I’m not a big fan of eating blueberries, I love pictures of them! Perfect summer evening for me – is it bad that it starts with no traffic? :) Running a few errands that take no time at all, food from a grill, and relaxing on our tiny little patio with the mister.
