Friday Finds are Pantone Inspired
Just this week Pantone announced their colour of the year: Honeysuckle! I’m a total colour geek- I love playing with colour palettes tools online and I get really excited any time I can flip through a full colour book. I’m a very visual person with an over flowing imagination on a any day of the week- and something about all the combinations and possibilities just gets me! So I might have been looking forward to this announcement, just a little.
Pantone’s seal of approval is a huge trend setter, and this reddish pink isn’t for everyone but there’s no denying that as an accent colour it’s an attention grabber. If you’d like to add it to your wardrobe and walls, these are some pieces I’d suggest…
clockwise from top left:
Queenie Flapper Hat by Dollface DeVille – $26.50
Flashy Frames by Moxiedoll – $30
Red Wine Rosette by The Mustard Seed Co – $8.50
Fuzzy Diamond Necklace by ItsAStitch- $28
Are you a fan of the colour choice this year?
I have to say, I don’t mind it (see: my big pink tattoo) but I’m more of a teal girl myself :)
I adore all four of those, especially the necklace. Your tastes are seriously impeccable.
Love the pink knitted hat. Just love it. Seriously. Good thing I can only spend my money on Christmas presents for others right now, otherwise I’d totally buy that…
Awesome colour! I really like bright pink but a few shades towards red is even better.
I love the rosette, but I have to say I’m not the biggest fan of pink. I do like its vibrancy though :)
Oh my gosh I love this color. So bright and beautiful. THat rosette is adorable too, perfect for a black or camel colored coat.
I love this! I am slightly obsessed with color trend forecasting (and have had to be as an eco-fashion designer), and always look forward to Pantone’s reports. I LOVE the colors for spring ’11, especially the silver peony (which was on their spring report a couple of years ago too) and silver cloud. The brighter colors (like honeysuckle!) combined with those two are gorgeous. Great post!
Fun! That’s similar enough to the color of my blog that I can officially declare myself trendy for a little while. :)
I have never heard of this color, but it is gorgeous!!! Also, I adore teal too. it’s one of my favorite colors and I own a lot of teal clothing. I also plan on incorporating teal into our new bedroom design!
i love pretty colours, and mixing and matching and creating. so much fun. that flashy frame is so cute! :)
It’s a great color they chose! Have you seen the Pantone Visa card? Oh mylanta…
I had a sneaking suspicion that this would be the color of the year, either this or a paler version. I am happy they chose it. I can tell that right now the trend setting color palettes are headed in a direction of colors that were popular in the late eighties, either pale pale salmons, pale sea foam greens, whites and creams, OR they are going creamy bright like Honeysuckle, creamy yellow, a saturated beige and such.
what are your color forecasts for this year?
<3 Moorea
haha – i’ve been a hot pink fan for a while k=now using it as the accent colour in my now old apartment…
funny i did a post on this too today! i’m moving to india and pink since to be the unofficial official colour of the country – it’s EVERYWHERE!
Such a beautiful color!
Oh, that’s a lovely color!
If by “honeysuckle” you mean “pepto bismol” then yes, it’s pink.
(I’m not a fan. Boo Pantone. Try again.)

I think you should knit something that color for your shop! I’d buy it!
Although I like the colour, as a redhead I’ve always been afraid of the clash factor but that touque almost makes me want to test it out.
Verrrrry pretty. This is just about the only shade of pink I like!
me gusta very much! I love anything in that color family since I am such a fan of pink!
Oooooh! Pretty colors & pretty items. I agree, I tend to like colors like turquoise or royal blue when I want a splash of color. But used in the right way, this color is super fun! <3
I’m a big fan of honeysuckle, although to me, a color called honeysuckle should be yellow or white…because that’s the color o honeysuckle. Confusing!
I love that color! Um, you should really talk to my husband. I’ve heard more about color wheels and color theory than I would ever care to remember!
I love the color, but I’m not such a fan of the name, either…honeysuckles to me are white with a sprig of pink…this color is more, I don’t know, watermelon sorbet? Or razzmatazz, one of my favorite crayon colors from back in the day (with cerulean. I was a name-snob even back then, I guess!)
I can’t really imagine painting a wall this color, though…perhaps that’s what an apartment with so little natural light does to you…I’m pretty sure I’d feel like I was being eaten by a pink muppet. That said, I have a scarf in this color, and it is absolutely perfect and bright to have near my face and brown hair.
I do like this colour but wasn’t too keen on the name when I saw it yesterday. As a prairie kid I always think of honeysuckle being a yellow colour. But, I googled it and apparently there are pink honeysuckle’s. Who knew?!
I love that color! Great finds. I also absolutely love color, it really makes me want to paint the walls in my house all different colors.
I really like this color, but why is it called honeysuckle? Are honeysuckle blossoms white and yellow?
ha nevermind, I did a quick google search, apparently there is a type of pink honeysuckle on the west coast. Clearly I am an east coaster!
I’m TERRIBLE with color (or at least I think I am), but I am DIGGING this fancy-pantsy color of the year!
