Friday Finds are ice cube ready
.
I’ve been prepping for a mini-sangria feature next week, and with friends in from out of town I’ve had the perfect excuse to get elaborate in the drink department – but while I’ve been perfecting my recipes I came to a surprising realization… I don’t own a real old fashioned pitcher!
So when Mister suggested we pick up the sangria ingredients for more test recipes, I may have diverted us to browse an antique mall on the way to the buy wine & fruit. I haven’t found my perfect pitcher yet, but all I can say is that I don’t want to live in a world where a perfect pitcher isn’t part of a good drink recipe, I can tell you that much. :)
My ideal pitcher is a heavy glass affair that shows off your mixing abilities – and I would be happy to have any of these in my kitchen.
blue swirl depression glass pitcher from KP Dreams – $22.50
1950’s pink blendo pitcher from Zelle’s Attic – $55
beaded glass pitcher from vintage interiors – $20
turquoise faux bamboo pitcher set from Red Lips Vintage- $36
What’s a must when you have friends over?
Oh wow…I’m so thirsty now! Must. Go. Find. A. Pink Lemonade!
I always like to have cute little baked things (usually cupcakes) when friends are over. It makes me feel all domesticated. :)
I’ve been looking for an amazing pitcher for sangria/sweet tea/lemonade. I love the top right pitcher!
I LOVE the first one. I had a great pitcher two summers ago and it broke! I need a new one, this is perfect.
OK, so I HAD to leave a comment here telling you how much i love your blog! I just found it! I wanted to let you know that I had a yummy sangria recipe that will be posted on my blog this Wed. AND I have a Fresh Find Friday series too! I just thought this was cool…

oh my gosh, LOVE sangria and LOVE these pitchers!!! My faves are the first and last one, that blue is ridiculous!! MUST find something like that one day.
LOVE those pitchers! I love putting ice water with mint and/or lemon in my pitcher. Also, iced tea.
When we have friends over there is always a baguette and several kinds of cheese. And wine, of course. We even had a lovely wine decanter, but it broke :-(
Fancy! I absolutely love old-timey pitchers and carafes. It just makes what you’re drinking/ serving seem so much, well, FANCIER! :) Thank you for sharing your finds.
What a fantastic bunch of pitchers you found!
Although they aren’t vintage, I’ve found some nice glass pitchers at Zellers and Superstore. The one from Zellers is probably more what you’re looking for… it’s made in Italy, has a round bottom (like the “beaded” one, but without the beads), and even has an ice tube that screws into the (plastic) lid. The one from Superstore is more cylindrical, but has a pour spout that doesn’t end up with drips down the side. :)
The fact that both are plain means that you can have fun with glass etching, or painting on your own design. :)
*love* the beaded glass pitcher :-)
I love the third pitcher… and you should check out some yard sales! I see beautiful old glassware at them ALL the time for so cheap!
And for me, it’s interesting dishes and trays. I LOVE having well arranged things to eat on fun plates!
When making white sangria, try soaking the fruit in a bit of honey and rum first. It makes such a big difference!
Those are all beautiful…especially with some fun pink sangria in them, or orange/lemon/lime slices in water. Love love love!
Glass pitchers should be a must in every household (I am still looking for the perfect one myself! ;))
We have a few glass pitchers but none of them fit in our fridge. It’s kind of a pain … Company gets lemonade in our plastic picture instead :D
love the turquoise! it’s one my favourite colours. and mmmmm. sangria. :)
Mmm.. sangria! I love it. That reminds me I need to make some this summer! I haven’t yet. I put so much fruit in it, ahhh… I love it.
I don’t have a pitcher either! I made my sangria in a batter bowl last week. It was a messy affair (but that may have had to do more with the brandy and triple sec I spiked my wine with than the batter bowl’s lack of pouring capabilities.)
Sangriaaaaaa! That’s been my summer drink of late. Love it. Get get enough of it. Which tends to be a bit of a problem the morning after… :)
Happy weekend, lady!
I love the turqouise set! Soooo pretty. Hmmm, as far as what to have when friends come over? Sheesh, I am still learning that. But you give me awesome ideas! <3
I was just thinking the other day how much I need a pitcher! :) I just love the way they look. My only concern is that there’s not really room on my shelf in the fridge. I got stuck with the short shelves :(
I’m in serious thrift store mode lately, & I CANNOT RESIST anything old-fashioned & made of glass. It’s a sickness, really. :)
Be still my beating heart. Those are gorgeous!
Those pitchers remind me of fresh lemonade … mmmmmmmm!
I think we need to be neighbors so we could have mid-afternoon sangria breaks. I’m really looking forward to your recipe.
I love the beaded pitcher! How great. I could definitely use one.
I try to make sure I have a variety of drinks — sodas and teas and coffees — when people are over. Sometimes I make pink lemonade in the summer.
Happy weekend!
I was just thinking the other day how perfect it is when you have a beautiful pitcher full of lemondade, but mmm sangria too!
Mmmmm, oh I loooove sangria! I’ve never made it myself, though, so I can’t wait for your post about that!
I have found some really great pitchers at my local Goodwill! My mom has the most perfect one ever (I should take a picture of it…hmm) – its clear, sturdy glass with daisies ‘growing’ all the way around. So cute! Keep your eyes peeled; you’ll find one!
I know this is not nearly as fun as buying a rad vintage pitcher, but here’s the one I use for sangria:

It definitely gets the job done!
Oooh I’m not normally a fan of pink but I love that pink pitcher!
