Friday Finds are Going Into the Woods
Yesterday my corner of the prairies received its first real snowfall of the year, complete with gorgeous big flakes landing on new boots and hats. Or on somewhat unprepared fall jackets if you’re me! My dogs were glued to the windows at the back of the house all day, gazing up at the sky- except for a few moments when Mal (true to form) got scared of the snow and started barking at it.
Cesar Millan is coming to my city this weekend. We have floor seats. True story.
Barking aside, the beautiful snow reminded me of driving through the country in the middle of winter, so today’s finds are a little rural.
clockwise from top left:
Lady The Owl by Skunkboy Creations – $70
Portrait with Jackalope by The Black Apple – $16
Antique Pewter & Sterling Necklace by MakeIt – $22
Chickadee Watercolour by dimdi – $25
When was the last time you got out of the city?
There snow hasn’t started to really stay on the ground here yet, but I want to go tobogganing!
Remind me of this in March, okay? :)
I love that silver necklace. Also, I will remind you in March about your declaration of love for snow. I am always glad to see the first snow but after a few days, I’m done with it and decide that I’m moving south so I don’t have to deal with it again. =)
I’m sort of excited for snow this year, only because we got a new HuskyMutt in April and I can’t wait to see how he feels about the snow.
And I love the Black Apple. I’ve got a print in my office and three more on my wishlist.
Ugh, PLEASE don’t remind me that snow is on its way… I am *so* not looking forward to it.
But that pewter/silver necklace is muy pretty. :)
Our bedroom is woodsy themed and I adore it. When we have a nursery one day I want it to be like a magical forest and I want the little creatures from Skunkboy all over! They’re so cute.
How cute that he got scared of the snow=)
I love this. I also wish that twig/branch necklace and the little owl were mine. Like, right now. :)
I am SO stinkin’ jealous that you get to go see Cesar Milan! He was just in Vancouver and I totally would’ve gone if I didn’t have to work all. the. time. Have fun!
Portrait with Jackalope is wonderful, I love the style. And I can’t believe I missed the snowfall!
Oooh love that necklace! And could you please take a video when your dogs start barking at the snow because it sounds adorable. :)
Love the necklace. LOVE it. Now I want it. Every time you share these posts with us I want everything in them. seriously.
I’m so jealous you get to go see Cesar Milan. You should definitely do a post on it! And I should probably go dig out the dvd set of his that I bought but have yet to watch. :-p
I wish it would snow here again! It snowed while I was in New Hampshire & hasn’t again since. But like you, come March I’ll be dying for warmer climates, so… maybe I can wait. :)
We missed Cesar in Edmonton … boo. Our dog barks at the wind :D
I keep saying to Eric, “its going to snow tomorrow” and then it doesn’t. No snow for us yet, but it’s coming. I can feel it!! ;)
Well, the last time I was out in the country was at 7:30 this morning and I’ll be going back at 5:15 tonight. But I have a feeling that isn’t quite what you meant…
I am also kind of sort of maybe a little bit starting to yearn for some snow. I’m looking forward to strapping some cross-country skis on and getting out on the trails. Our autumns are long and wet (read: brown and muddy), so I like the cleanness of the powder.
Oh, I almost forgot – my black lab Maggie has a message for Mal:
Any good dog worth his/her salt knows that WIND is the only thing important enough to bark maniacally at. Oh and jet airplanes flying at 30,000 feet. Oh and that tiny little chipmunk who comes to steal the spilled birdseed on the back porch. Oh and that stray plastic bag that got caught up in the tree that one time (don’t worry, I sure did TELL THAT BAG who’s boss). Barking at snow is just weird, dude. Get a grip.
oooh, I love these! I own the jackalope photo and it looks so adorable in my living room. The Black Apple is the best store, seriously.
Oh, I love that necklace!
I’m also jealous of your snow a bit. I wish it snowed in Phoenix!
When I was doing a long run on a particularly HOT, HUMID day this summer, I started to fantasize about it snowing. I am still looking forward to it, even though I know I will be whining and complaining in Feb/Mar. I think there is something romantic about snow fall. It always makes me think of this one episode of Sex and the City in the 6th season where NYC gets hit by a huge snow storm and Carrie & her bf go on a sleigh ride in Central Park. Swoon. :)
Ohhh! I just love the painting of the little bird. It’s just adorable!!
I wished it snowed here too. But I know that when it’ll happen I will wish it would all be gone again.
I love Skunkboy Creatures and the last picture reminds me of my grandma who lovs birds and has many drawing like that all around here house.
Actually, I live near the wood, I just have to go outside, walk 200 meters and I’m there, but for University I live in a big city. I am totally realizing I will never live in a city again and just stay in touch with nature ^^
Yay, Kyla! I’m so happy Lady is up your blog today– your blog is so pretty!
P.S. I’m terribly jealous of your snow. <3
Last year I feel like I was leaving NYC all the time but now, I hardly leave the area. Obviously, I don’t live in NYC anymore (I’m north of the city, about 20 miles away). But the last time we left the NYC metro area was in August when we went to New Hampshire. That was so much fun and so beautiful to be out in nature for awhile.
I am really hoping for a “white Christmas” in Germany this year… if not, I’ll just drive up to Lake Tahoe and get my snow fix when I need it :)
Love the necklace. How unique!
Snow<3 I'm jealous. I can't believe it's nearly mid-November and we haven't had snow yet in Michigan. Send some this way!
I actually can’t remember the last time I left the city and went home to the boonies. I should probably find a weekend to do that…
Tobogganing = one of the best parts of winter. Can’t wait!
