Dreaming of Spring
We’ve been going through a cold snap- and of course this is at a time when more than anything I want to get my bike restored and start riding around the city, wearing skirts again & sitting outside on patios! I want spring to come so badly.
This week has been crazy- we’ve been having work finished on the house so we’re less likely to flood out in the spring, which has meant working from home while worker boys in boots tromping around the house, drilling holes in the basement floor and appointments with home inspectors.
I’m glad that we’re ready for whatever the prairie spring deals us now, and I’m ready for the next part of this year to start! But instead of being restless and stir crazy and putting the house up for sale like we almost did last winter, I made an etsy inspiration board because I’ve been behind on my Friday Finds :)

Discovery: inspiration boards are much less work than listing a house, and prettier too! ;)
Would someone who lives somewhere a little warmer mind if I came and slept on their couch for a little while? I’m a mean baker- I’m sure we could work something out.
Hope you’re having a beautiful Saturday!
I don’t know if you’d really want to swap with me. It’s been SOOOO hot the last few days in Brisbane. Over 35C and crazy humid! I wouldn’t mind me a change in the weather too :-)
These are so adorable! Last week it felt like Spring was starting here, then this weekend it dumped snow! But in Vancouver, you know that it won’t last. I’ve got a light spring jacket and the need to start leaving my house. It feels good!
This is really cool – how did you make this inspiration board? Is it from a website generator or did you just make your own?
xoxo

I’m dying for spring to be here too! Sacramento has been such a tease lately with the weather: one minute it’s sunny, the next it’s hailing! I love the idea of your inspiration board though. I might have to make one of those myself while I wait for spring to officially arrive.
Thanks for this pretty little board! The perfect pick me up in the midst of dreadful weather and house packing!!
While I would love to offer you my couch, we just got a foot of snow and are expecting 4 more inches throughout this lovely Sunday. So not cool, but I’ll just board myself up in my craft room and make stuff!
I really wish I hadn’t spent all my allotted thrift store money yesterday, I feel like I NEED that yellow and teal pitcher. It is calling out to my heart!
Good luck with the house repair, definitely doesn’t sound fun!
oh my goodness! i just squealed with how cute all of these things are! and ugh, it’s already 85 degrees here in florida! do you want to trade?!
Those shoes with the bows are just too sweet! Spring will be here before you know it!
i would invite you to sleep on my couch but it’s not warm here at all. we got 6+ inches of snow last night so i too am dreaming of a warm climate.
(i love the little skirt with the bow!)

Those little glass bottles with things in them are adorable. I also really love the robin bird necklace. I’ll have to check out the treasury.
*I’m DYING for spring to get here!
kyla:
i’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months. amy from just a titch recommended it. so inspirational!
your treasury collection is absolutely covetable.
hope the rest of your winter is quick and kind. here in northern california we’re enjoying a cold and clear dry snap this weekend. it’s beautiful – wish we could share with all of you.
would charleston, sc work for you? every day is beach day! haha you’d be welcome anytime.
I wish I could offer you my couch but we’re having miserable weather again too. Me thinks you’re going to have to go farther south than OH. I’m glad that you have flood proofed your basement. I love this inspiration board. It makes me long for spring and deck drinking.
Last night I was walking around our apartment complex and the weather was lovely, I just had on a warm sweater jacket. It seemed like rain was coming, and I love rain.
I got home, and two hours later opened our door to about two inches of snow. v.v
I want spring here and now, please, ‘k, thank you!
What kind of bike do you have? I restored my 72′ yellow Schwinn Breeze back in the fall. I’m tired of riding around with my gloves and coat – I want to ride wearing my floaty skirts and flats!!
Oh it sounds beautiful!! Mine’s a vintage Schwinn but I haven’t checked out the serial number to see what year it is- I really want to make it as good as new this spring, but I don’t know the first thing about it! There’s a great bike shop in town that I’m hoping will help me. You can see a picture of mine here. :)
Come on over, Kyla! It’s in the 70s in Florida with a slight breeze – absolutely, beautiful weather! :) I feel so bad for people talking about how cold it is in other places. A few weeks ago, we had a “cold” spell where the temp dropped into the 50s and my mom was in such a grumpy mood. Ha! I told her, “You know, to some, 50 is warm!” and she said, “NOBODY thinks 50 is warm.” I think I could prove her wrong. ;) We are such winter wimps in Florida!
Good lord, lady – I’ve been dreaming of grass peeking through the snow since after NYE. The other day I noticed my crocuses starting to peek and IT GAVE ME HOPE.
I am steadily focused on the day I can have a margarita in the sun. Sigh…
I would love for you to come bake for me! My couch is free, I have a slightly grumpy dog, though :) Love your site and all your etsy finds.
Oh, grumpy dogs are the cutest! Even better? Grumpy older dogs! lol
I’ll start packing my bags ;)
I am so tired of the cold. Bring on the pretty dresses and cute flats and ice cream and sunshine! ♥
How do you always find the cutest stuff on Etsy?? That skirt is darling. The boy and I are moving today, and it’s kinda rainy, and I was kinda complainy, and he’s like, “We’re so spoiled. Other parts of the world are covered in snow, and we get a little rain, and it’s like the end of the world.” I couldn’t help but laugh. ;) My couch is free…or it will be once we get it over in the new place! Lol. I hope you’re serious about the baking thing, though. My new apartment needs to smell like freshly baked cookies!! ;)
This is the first winter I’m really experiencing the winter blahs – but they are hitting hard this year! I think maybe because its my first year working full-time? The no long weekend between January 1 and Easter is no bueno. Also, the freezing temperatures over here have REALLY put a damper on my mood.
Though, I shouldn’t complain too much, one of our yoga teachers was recently in Winnipeg for yoga teacher training (she’s Brazilian) and she changed her flight so she could come home a day early because it was SO COLD in Winnipeg! Ha! When I saw that on Facebook my first thought was, “poor Kyla”
:-)
Oh my how I adore those flats with the beautiful yellow bows! So cute. ♥ xo.
We had a taste of spring here on our prairie before it was so rudely ripped away from us. Now we are back to single digits (above and below zero) and snow. In fact today I am going to make soup w/ crusty bread for supper and curl up on my couch watching movies while it snow and blows outside.
Kyla, where in Canada are you, exactly? I’m in Peterborough, Ontario and the weather here SUCKS today. Cold and snowing. I’ve had enough! Let me know if you find a southern couch to crash on — I may join you! ;)
I’m on it Jenny! You will be my first phone call once I secure us a couch! lol
I’m from Winnipeg- and I’m a little baffled at the fact that I’ve left that off my about page! Adding it now :)
I am also really really anxious for spring to arrive. I am tired of this cold weather – it is wearing me down and making m ea little bit grumpy! So here’s hoping that spring is on it’s way… and that the flooding is not too bad… :( Eeks.
Miss you! Maybe we can skype next weekend?
Yes! I would love to catch up on skype, that would be perfect! :)
Every winter I promise myself I won’t go through the winter “blahs” and they always show up at the end of February or start of March- maybe next year? ;)
