Daily Life & Lots Of News!

There has been so much to share and so much I’ve been wanting to write lately- but there’s been so little time between major happenings that it’s been hard to know where to start with my blog when I sit down to the keyboard. I’ve been trying to pull everything into one story post, but the  inspiration hasn’t come so I’m pulling out the blogger’s stand by (bullet points! Instagram!) so I can at least get everything written down…

+ Our house sold, and for over the asking price!! It was a stressful week of being away from home every night, having to keep from cooking in my kitchen, having the little dogs live at our in law’s house and not knowing if we were going to sell for what we wanted but everything worked out! We’re moving into our new house on September 15th and the buyers get possession of our old house on October 1st- so I’ll even have time to move my favourite garden plants to the new place!

+ Selling was much more stressful than I thought it would be. Focusing on my client work while going through this has been tough stuff, but I’ve been working really hard on staying positive, getting enough sleep and doing everything I can too keep my anxiety (GAD) from getting out of hand during this time. Learning how to stay calm during Big Disruptive Stuff feels like good practice for the future. Plus, who doesn’t like having a good excuse to make reading and yoga big priorities?

+ The best part of selling is that we got the dogs back. Our in laws were generous and kept them while we were doing showings, but I missed them terribly. Mal got a little depressed while he was away and just wanted to be pressed up against me when I visited, and after crashing with his Bison toy (they spoon, NBD) he was right back to his normal, bouncy, sunshiny self.  We’ve been taking them to dog parks and out to the country since getting them home and everything feels better with them around. I just don’t know how to be myself without having animals around, and I don’t want to learn.

+ I’ve been rationing the last of my David Tennant Dr. Who episodes because I didn’t want to let him go, but I finally ran out this week. Sometimes I watch TV in the background while I’m doing routine work like making client files or sorting my To Do lists and I’ve been dreading meeting the new Doctor. I saw photos of him and he looked dopey! And not in a good way! But I just watched the first episode last night and fell in love. The way he’s introduced in the first episode is just intensely charming and delightful. There is so much wonder and magic in the tone of series five, and it has me geeking out all over again.

There’s lots more to share- I’m going to Minneapolis in two weeks, launching all kinds of new client projects, have completely re-worked my approach to my daily work, and started making (and photographing) all kinds of delicious tasty things in my kitchen. And I’m even going to share the photos of my new tattoo this week! (Finally!)

What’s new in your world?
