Daily Life & Lots Of News!
There has been so much to share and so much I’ve been wanting to write lately- but there’s been so little time between major happenings that it’s been hard to know where to start with my blog when I sit down to the keyboard. I’ve been trying to pull everything into one story post, but the inspiration hasn’t come so I’m pulling out the blogger’s stand by (bullet points! Instagram!) so I can at least get everything written down…
+ Our house sold, and for over the asking price!! It was a stressful week of being away from home every night, having to keep from cooking in my kitchen, having the little dogs live at our in law’s house and not knowing if we were going to sell for what we wanted but everything worked out! We’re moving into our new house on September 15th and the buyers get possession of our old house on October 1st- so I’ll even have time to move my favourite garden plants to the new place!
+ Selling was much more stressful than I thought it would be. Focusing on my client work while going through this has been tough stuff, but I’ve been working really hard on staying positive, getting enough sleep and doing everything I can too keep my anxiety (GAD) from getting out of hand during this time. Learning how to stay calm during Big Disruptive Stuff feels like good practice for the future. Plus, who doesn’t like having a good excuse to make reading and yoga big priorities?
+ The best part of selling is that we got the dogs back. Our in laws were generous and kept them while we were doing showings, but I missed them terribly. Mal got a little depressed while he was away and just wanted to be pressed up against me when I visited, and after crashing with his Bison toy (they spoon, NBD) he was right back to his normal, bouncy, sunshiny self. We’ve been taking them to dog parks and out to the country since getting them home and everything feels better with them around. I just don’t know how to be myself without having animals around, and I don’t want to learn.
+ I’ve been rationing the last of my David Tennant Dr. Who episodes because I didn’t want to let him go, but I finally ran out this week. Sometimes I watch TV in the background while I’m doing routine work like making client files or sorting my To Do lists and I’ve been dreading meeting the new Doctor. I saw photos of him and he looked dopey! And not in a good way! But I just watched the first episode last night and fell in love. The way he’s introduced in the first episode is just intensely charming and delightful. There is so much wonder and magic in the tone of series five, and it has me geeking out all over again.
There’s lots more to share- I’m going to Minneapolis in two weeks, launching all kinds of new client projects, have completely re-worked my approach to my daily work, and started making (and photographing) all kinds of delicious tasty things in my kitchen. And I’m even going to share the photos of my new tattoo this week! (Finally!)
A little late, but heart-felt congrats…. I am so excited that you’re moving!
Dude, that’s so rad that your house sold so fast! And above asking price – woot woooot!! I can only imagine how stressful it would be to sell a house while you have a bid on another house. I always tell Jesse that we will never ever sell this house (only upgrade it) because I know I would fall apart under that pressure. Ha!
Congratulations! This all sounds wonderful!

I was so sad to see David Tennant go. I love that man. And that Dr. He is still my absolute favourite doctor, but Matt Smith is a BRILLIANT doctor. It’s a slightly different doctor, but a great one.
So glad to hear your house sold, it must be such a huge relief! I want that ‘It’ll be okay’ shirt. Where did it come from?
LIfe is good, no? That is just completely perfect. I can’t quit smiling while reading about your adventure. And I can’t WAIT to see pics of your new house. So happy for you. I’m so anxious to get into my dream home. I’ll live vicariously through you for now :)
P.S. I just love your hair
Congrats on selling you’re house and hurry up and get through Smith! The new season starts this weekend and it’s going to be the most epic season yet!!
Also, hit me up on twitter for all the extra Tennant specials and movies (just in case you’ve missed some of the extras) and I’ll catch you up! (@stephnabo)
No way, Stephanie! I’ll definitely do that. Thank you, you’re my new favorite! ;)
That’s fantastic! Congrats on the house! So great! And now you have your dogs back. I can only imagine how wonderful that must be! My world is completely new right now! I just got married! Wedding was gorgeous and the honeymoon amazing !!! Just got home and now to begin the life of a wife :)))
I love your enthusiasm- that’s such a magical time, enjoy it! :)
So glad your house sold so quickly Kyla! Very excited to hear all about the new place. I also saw your post with your new tattoo – looks great!!
Congratulations…you must be so excited:)
PS. Love your shirt!
Congratulations Kyla! I am so happy for you! :-D
YAY! SO glad to hear the house is sold and for more than you wanted! That’s the best combo of news.
SO excited for you and Jesse! And that pic of Mal? TOO cute! Can’t wait to see/hear more about your tattoo, and what you’ve been up to lately!
I am so glad your house sold so quickly – and for over asking price! That is awesome!! I had a feeling it would get snatched up as it really appears to be such a charming home!
I am excited to see you in 2 weeks!!!
Congratulations on selling the house, how exciting! I have Socialized Anxiety Disorder (and probably a bit of GAD as well), and I decided long ago that when we buy a house my husband will take total control of it. He’s just better at handling that shit than I am!
That’s a great plan, Caitlin- it’s so good to know when you just need to step back from a situation, and when you have the ability to! :)
I know exactly how you feel re: old/new doctor. I rationed out the David Tennant episodes for as long as I possibly could because I really couldn’t imagine another doctor. Matt Smith definitely grows on you. Amy Pond is also a really great companion (but no Donna Noble!)
Congrats on selling your house!!
Introducing Amy as a child and having them test out foods was such a genius way to let the audience see him in his element, and to have him be in a situation where he’s trying to build trust. It was such a satisfying way for it to be handled *excited* :)
So glad to hear (read?) about what is going on! Moving is such a big deal, and sometimes I wonder how I accumulated so many wonderful treasures. Hope your day is great.
Very Very exciting news :) Enjoy your new place
Wow, that’s all good news!! So glad it sold and that’s off your list. Can’t wait to hear more about your how you’re approaching daily work.
Catherine Denton
congrats on making the sale! :-)
That’s so exciting about your house :) Congratulations :D
David Tennant was awesome as the Doctor. Matt Smith makes a come back this weekend as the new series starts (Has Pondlife been advertised over there? It’s like a mini series just with Amy, Rory and the Doctor.)
No, I didn’t know about Pondlife! I’m going to check it out- thank you Hannah! :)
Eek! That photo of Mal just kills me with all sorts of cuteness.
COngrats! Cannot wait to see the new house!
