A Mail Call and a Postcard Exchange!
This week at The Nest I was a witness to an exciting and happy event: MAIL DELIVERY!
We haven’t quite managed to put our mailbox up yet, but we’ve been receiving bills popped between the door so it didn’t occur to me that anything was wrong. After I posted the studio’s address last month I didn’t exactly get inundated with postcards- I wondered what the were odds that literally no one who reads my blog cares to write letters? This was my train of thought: “I’m a letter person! My readers are crazy awesome and we always get along! That’s so weird. Am I even more niche than I thought?” I thought it was really funny and started considering that maybe I should hint to my husband that he might want to write me a letter, or maybe ask my mom to write me a note? ;)
And then last week, in walked the lady who lives in the apartment attached to the back of the studio. She had a pile of postcards and letters, and said “Is this Freckled Nest? Are you Kyla?” – it turns out that the mailman had been delivering some of our mail to the apartments!! And the postcards and notes she delivered? They’re so beautiful and made me feel so excited- I had to share a few of them…
I was really excited to go through them & explore the blogs of the girls who’ve written me so far, I’ve already started my responses! If you have a moment I’d love to hear from you- and I’ll send you a postcard back & be sure to stop by your blog. There’s just nothing more exciting than getting something beautiful in the mail!
Write to me at…

When was the last time you wrote a letter, just because?
I finally had the chance to make a card and send it your way… hope you got it! Love your blog!
I love this idea. I’m in. :)
ail is so exciting when its not a bill!
I somehow missed the first post as well, but I am so ready to get in on this postcard love. :) I love mail and its one of my 2011 goals to send loved ones some happy mail.
Postcards are amazing!
I therefore signed up for http://www.postcrossing.com – it was wonderful! But then I started questioning why I would send more postcards to strangers (though I’ve made some good friends and got some cute small notes and felt loved from all over the world), instead of writing to my dearest and nearest.
So, now I try to write a bit more to family and friends, and i think they love it, while also writing some small notes through postcrossing.
EEEEEEEEEE!!!! You posted mine! I’m so glad it made it. :) That just made my life!
I love sending and receiving postcards. Ill need to send you one this next week.
Awww, I’ve been meaning to write you, too. I already picked out one of my cards for you… expect it soon!
I write letters/cards all the time. It’s what I believe to be a true sign of love and friendship :)
get ready for some elycia-mail.
:)
Ooh what a good idea!! I’ve only recently started reading your blog, but i love this idea! I miss writing and receiving letters.
Oh I have one that I have been meaning to send. It is waiting on stamps…That seems to be the one thing I am constantly forgetting…
I cannot remember the last time I chose snail mail over the million other ways of communication–e-mail, cell phone, Facebook, Twitter, etc. It’s time I re-busted out the cute stationary and put my rusty handwriting back to use. Thanks for the inspiration, Kyla!
Hi Kyla!
Somehow i missed your first post with the address in it. Here’s a cool site if you like sending/receiving postcards:

Hope you’re enjoying the warmer weather!

Hi Kyla, i am doing a letter writing project on my blog (just started last Thursday). It is so nice. I have all sorts of plans and ideas for it. I am glad to see others in the digital world writing letters and postcards too :) i will have to write you!
I am definitely gonna send you one sometime!! =D
xo.
I very regularily write postcards to both my grandparents as I don’t see them very often and don’t have a phone I can easily call them with. It is my little way of staying in touch and it really isn’t a lot of effort on my part. I admittedly haven’t written a full letter in quite a while though. Might be time to do so soon.

Oh, fun! :) I’m going to send you one. he he. What a fun idea!!
I love love love writing letters and have been doing it a whole lot lately!
I am going to write you soon!!
I’m always writing letters … a lot of my friends/family live on the other side of the country, so I have a good excuse. Letters are so much more fun than e-mails!
Cute, I love getting mail.
I just wrote you one, and then when I was writing the address out, I remembered you live in Canada and I’m thinking I’m going to have to go to the Post Office to mail it. sigh I’m going to Google this one
aww i spy mine! :)
nothing can change a normal day (esp a monday!) like happy mail.
i believe in old fashioned postal mail so i write letters pretty much all the time :) makes ME happy almost even more than receiving something. xo
You’ll definitely be getting a postcard off me Kyla :) Just need to give it time coming from England haha xoxo
Last time i wrote a letter… hmmm its been a while. I think i might have to start that up since mail is always such a joy when it is not all bills.
I try to write about 10 cards/letters a week to friends & family. I’m trying to reach 200 – & right now I’m hovering around 160, because I’ve been slacking! But I do love a good snail mail letter, & I find that if you write TO people, you’re very likely to get responses. <3
This is so awesome! I guess I didn’t even notice the address posted? But, yesterday I was thinking about how fun it would be to have a pen pal! I LOVE getting happy mail!
I absolutely adore snail mail – you’re right, it’s the best thing! I’ll definitely have to send you a postcard or letter :)
Awww! This is so cute! I want to start sending more snail mail this year, so I am definitely going to have to get in on this. ;) Hehe. How fun! <3
last time I wrote a letter just because? It’s been awhile. It’s on my “to do” list but lately everything seems to be on my “to do” list. I have so much lovely stationary so I really need to get going on it! Love the story about the postcards and how they were going to the wrong address; so glad they made it to you :)
I hope you all put up a mailbox! Thats too funny that some of the cards and letters were delivered to the apartments. I need to send you a postcard! I’ve been really bad lately about sending snail mail just because. I need to get back into it. =)
I must have missed this post the first time around – I’ll definitely have to send you something at your new place of business! :)
Yay, I was wondering when you’d get that! Haha. I LOVE getting mail, and I had so much fun creating a postcard for you. :)
Can’t wait to get your response (that I can see peeking at the last picture) !
xo
:)
